Someone please remind me why McGuinty got voted back in...
I agree with what you're saying about McGuinty, he's a nazi.
As far as raising the speed limits....maybe not. If everyone was a capable driver, it'd be great but the sad fact of the matter of it is that we share the roads with people who can barely drive at 60 km/h that are allowed on 400 series highways. Thats the real problem.

it would be very intetesting if one could see the age if the poster. i think this thread is a classice case of the young and dumb vs older and wiser.

i cant believe people see nothing wrong here and are encouraging about running from the cops, and condoning this. :)

i wonder how the 3 bikers would feel if 3 cars would be using the bikes as stopping targets to see who can come closer without hitting them

I would never suggest nor condone running from police but, when they increased the penalties for relatively minor traffic offences to the level of low grade Criminal Code charges, I was certainly one of the people who predicted that more would run.

Yeah because it's clear that riders performing wheelies and stoppies on public roads are responsible for a startling majority of traffic accidents....... or not. If you wanna be a good samaritan, why not report all the idiots who are driving while texting/talking on their phones and are actually posing a tangible threat to others?

This is funny - If someone can be a great rider and perform wheelies safely....then why can't someone be a great driver and text while driving safely???

Drivers look at bikers wheelie past them and shake their heads thinking "What a moron"

Riders look at drivers texting and shake their heads thinking "What a moron"

Let's now be hypocrites here folks.

Both are distracted driving!!

Well let's be honest here Paul. The guys who are wheelying past cars are paying 100% attention to what they're doing, not distracted. They just aren't paying all that much attention to the cars

I disagree completely.

Texting takes your eyes and attention away from the road. Wheelies do no such thing.

The number of accidents caused by distracted drivers/riders must be 10000x that of accidents caused by wheelies. And at the end of the day, the guy doing a wheelie will likely only hurt himself.

No comparison.

Nice catch.

yep.

Well, I know of someone who did something like this a couple years back. Group of them got busted apparently. I asked them why the heck would you ride so fast on the 400 series ? He said "because one guy went fast - we all followed and adrenaline kicked in "

I don't think he rides anymore. The fines/insurance hit and lack of any imagination on riding routes forced him to stop. lol!

if he bales infront of some cars there will be a collision with all the following traffic. You know how people will jam on their brakes etc.

stupid move for sure, but why cant we just have a to each their own attitude...they didnt endanger anyone so who the **** cares...

just got back from a quebec tour, it was ****in amazing.

cars moved out of our way without hesitation, never got dirty looks for passing properly on a broken yellow line, **** about every corner had a passing lane and signs saying "stay to right unless passing", it was all second nature for the quebec drivers/riders.

the cops didnt blink an eye when we were doing 120-120 in a 90 zone.

all roads were 90, even through some towns! some were 70 and 50 if it was a big town.

the place just made sense.

Ontario? we take the bayview extension down to a 60 zone because leaside cyclists didnt feel safe...god i hate this province most of the time

just going to work at 630 am is a chore...no traffic but all cars spread the **** out on the dvp...no wonder bikers do stupid things like passing on the right or lane filtering, etc...

cops should be enforcing and ticketing for **** like going too slow in the left, or blocking people, more distracted driving, not just cell phone. just typical daily dickery we have to deal with

arg
you dear sir make way to much sense, i submit you should be banned

Ahhh...stats....

More people are killed by sobers drivers than are killed by drunk drivers!!

1). Guess what, by wheeling, you're removing your front (i.e. steering plus main braking) wheel off the ground.
2). The number of accidents caused by distracted drivers is 10000x higher than the ones who are wheeling, because the number of drivers on the road is 10000x higher than riders.

now we are comparing apples to oranges and oranges to grapes :)
we are saying why cant i do this and they do that or why is the penalty this for that and that for this.

forget the law for a minute. no one said the law is fair. far from it. that being said it does not make the wheelie act safe.

if you wana pull a wheelie then go to a track. heck just go to a slow industrial side street or an abondoned parking lot. anywhere that is less dangerous then a major hwy. there is too much room for something bad hapenning. its not about the law breaking its the common sense and regard for public safety.

i wont put up with it anymore then a cabbie riding up my tail.

if you endanger or my family me cuz you are pulling a wheelie or you are running away from the cops then the ticket and criminal record is gonna be the least of your worries.

They should consider themselves lucky, I was charged and convicted of dangerous driving for doing a slow and controlled wheelie at 40km/h before the stunting charge existed. Now I am a convicted traffic criminal, and have a criminal record for it...I was looking at jail time, lost my lic for year, was on probation for months, had to pay $3000 for an actual lawyer, and make a $1000 charitable donation, as well as take a driver rehab coarse to get my lic back. And I also had to totally forget about getting any kind of insurance for 5 years... You know a stunting charge doesn't seem all that bad LOL
...........and they wonder why people run. Considering the consequences, how much worse off are you really, even if you get caught? All that these severe consequences have done is make it worth the risk to many.

well there you have it! time to ban sober driving! :D

Funny, I've been black flagged for wheelies during practise at Shannonville when I road raced. I've also been told I'd be tossed at Cayuga for doing wheelies down the quarter mile while practising for the wheelie contest later that day (which I won). So don't assume that you can just go to race tracks and wheelie. I was even told by an OPP who was patrolling at the Cayuga facility that I shouldn't do wheelies on the track.......and they are the ones that told me to go there! hahahaha!
I'm not saying that everyone doing wheelies on the 400 is a good idea or that they know what they're doing but there's a time and a place for everything and that has a lot of to do with getting home in one piece.
Apparently many on the roads have turned into "Motorola Cops" phoning the police as they themselves are driving. Nice.

Radio is faster.
That'd be more fun if it were true.
There has to be a unit ahead of you, and on the right road. and let's not forget that they can't lose sight of you during a chase or their "evidence" would just be lies/speculation/hear say/harrassment/false arrest/malicious prosecution which, I'm sure, has never happened.

Regardless of your opinion of "safe" or "unsafe", it's still pretty dumb to do that on a long weekend when you know the cops are going to be around ... and practically everyone in the traffic that you are travelling with has a cell phone ...
........makes it funner!
