How much should I be paying?

After reading a bit more, I'm a little skeptical now on which bike I should be looking towards.

I think I'm more qualified than most people in this thread to answer this question since I have in fact owned both bikes, and at one point, AT THE SAME TIME.

The F4i is a sport bike through and through, even in the eyes of insurance, not a "sport tourer" some kijiji ads would have you believe. Weekend rides were a blast and it was fast like most I-4 sport bikes, super friggin smooth when I popped some NGK iridiums in her. Great looker in yellow fairings. I also used it for commuting which was just okay. Maintenance was also a PITA because of the fairings. The ergos suck like any sport bike, which is the main reason I picked up an sv650.

Pros:
- Fast & smooth
- Good looking (to me)
- Adjustable rear suspension

Cons:
- Sport bike ergos
- Expensive to maintain overall
- 2-upping on a sport bike

The SV650 is a budget liquid cooled ('04-current) v-twin. I have a naked SV FYI. My only gripe with this bike is the suspension, it is bad, especially when you 2 up. I use it for weekends and commuting comfortably. It doesn't rev as high or go as fast as the F4i did, which is expected from a v-twin at this displacement. Plenty of torque and speed for getting a stunting charge though, so there.
Modding is very easy on the SV so if you pick it up expect to upgrade the rear and front suspension first (especially if you want to track it). If something breaks, you won't cry as much as you would on the F4i.

Pros
- Comfy ergos
- Cheaper to maintain overall
- Torque, torque, torque
- Looks good (to me)

Cons:
- Budget parts (suspension)
- Uninspiring at higher Rpms

If you want something that can do everything, the SV is the way to go (imo). If you want the I-4 experience, get a cheap track bike.

You don't know my budget, take it easy cowboy. Do you not see my location? "Brooklin".

Haha, that's one of the douchiest things I've read in a while! I "seen" your post and had to laugh.

Carbs are as much fun as a prostate exam.
