How does it feel to go to an SS from a Sport?

Guys on liter bikes tend to make good decisions...where to speed, where not to speed, specifically, where "not" to do crazy ****. If you've ridden one for any length of time, and managed to keep your license, and your life, there's something is to be said for that. It's a status symbol and the exhilaration is unmatched.

Here's a good non-supersport for you. A GSX-R with handlebars. A GSR:

Looks like a lot of fun. The constant punch in the chest at highway speeds might not be tho.

What would you guys recommend as the best SS for someone who's 6'3"? I've been on a 2014 ZX-6R and also on a Daytona 675R. The Triumph was actually far more comfortable, but the heat from the engine goes right at your right knee! I literally had to move my knee out cause it felt like it was gonna catch on fire. Who designs these things? No one considers that this bike might be in traffic at some point?

I would hope not. I understand a lot of SS riders ride downtown to pose and crap for traffic but I'd rather them focus on producing the best numbers on the spec sheet; why else do you think the seating position is so crappy compared to standard bikes? lol

Get the new z1000. Fast and comfortable. And wheelies

You get used to it.

9 posts in 7 years, that must be a record.

Not hard when you realize this forum becomes more irrelevant as the years go by.

These liter haters don't realize no one even needs a 600. We all want more power.

Nah. I went from the 650R to a 125. Only difference is now I ride in higher RPM. I guess it could use a touch more power but otherwise it's fine. Probably not great for 2 up though.

You should have said Vespa instead of Civic.
I hate automatic myself. All my cars are manual - 5 and 6 speed. Driving a stick and being in full control is a feeling I will never replace with a computer controlled whatever-tronic transmission, even if it comes with flappy paddles on a side.
Good luck with that. It's become nearly impossible to find decent manual cars. Yeah if you want the lowest of the low econobox you can get manual or have the money for some higher end sports cars but otherwise you're SOL. Even BMW and Audi, who both seemed pretty dedicated to manual, have the majority of their models in auto only now. And if you want a truck or something there's almost no manual options unless you get the base model 2wd commercial model that barely comes with a radio.

Last car I bought the only reason I ended up with a WRX is that it was literally the only thing I could find that met my requirements. All I wanted was a turbo, AWD, manual, Japanese (wanted to get away from the Euro models I've been into in the past and North American cars suck), hatchback. Even that was disappointing because it seems Subaru can't make a decent manual except for the STI.

I really wish that wasn't the case.

You make it sound like shifting is intense physical labor. Part of the fun, if I wanted to sit and not shift, I'd drive an automatic Honda Civic (cervix).
While I enjoyed shifting through the gears and reving out my 250 (and my current manual car), its simply too much shifting required to keep rpms low (i dont want to cruise through the neighborhood at 9k) and not quite enough power. I have a 600 now but imo a 500 or something with good midrange would be just about ideal for the road. Somewhere around 80hp with decently long gear ratios. Some nakeds come to mind...

I think this is the only time I've ever heard someone being concerned for their noise level on this forum (other than being worried they'll get charged because their aftermarket exhaust is too loud) or using it as a reason to have a bigger bike. I actually like the reasoning here. It's not enough for me to pay the insurance premium generally associated with a larger engine but I still like it.

My 2 smoke is loud as hell AND I really gotta wind it up just to get going (lots of clutch slipping for a moderate launch at a light). I try to keep in low until I get to a main street (it's not warmed up by then, anyway) but I'm sure my neighbors still hate me.
