How does it feel to go to an SS from a Sport?

As somebody that went from a 2010 GSXR600 to 2014 Yamaha FZ-09...

* Way more comfortable
* Metric ton of torque
* Did I mention lots of torque? This makes it incredibly comfortable taking off at lights, etc. The bike seems to pull from any gear at pretty much any RPM. The GSXR you had to wind out like a sewing machine.
* The seat sucks ***
* Suspension is fine for around town, I would upgrade it for hardcore twisty / track days
* Throttle is a little snatchy
* Wind buffeting is not an issue at all.
* It's a wheelie machine. You can power-wheelie in 1st and 2nd without trying. This could be good or bad..... ;)

You can get the 2014 FZ-09 for $8700ish brand new.

GSXR750 is like a beefy 600 not a liter bike or even close.
I agree, i got both the 750 and the 1000 GSXRs and there is no comparison.

SS bikes feel safer to me. Touring bikes feel unsafe.

I would rather have way more motor / brakes / suspension then I need.

I wasn't offering... ;p

U sure?

I am 6'5" and I loved the seating position of the new 636. One thing to keep in mind is that if you find the bike of your dreams don't forget the aftermarket. I just recently purchased a 1998 kawasaki zx9r and I love the room and the power. I do struggle with neck pain after some time from leaning forward. I ordered a pair of handlebar risers which made a considerable difference. And the cost was $110.00 delivered to my door and installed in less than 20 minutes. For the most part, and this is especially true for newer bikes, you can really adjust the bike to your ergonomics.

I went from a couple 600s to a 250 to another couple 600s, to a 1000 then to a 600. And my next ride will be a 1000 At no point did my penis grow bigger or get smaller :lmao:

Permanently stuck at half mast? :lmao:

I went from a SS to this

Best decision ever almost as much power, easier handling more fun !!

If I had more coin, and more inseam, I'd love me one of 'dem!

If I could do it all over again I would've gone from my GS500F to one of the liter naked bikes. Just as much power as my GSX-R750 but a much more upright position and clearance isn't an issue (every try turning fast on a cruiser? I think my penis turned into a vagina when I tried).

If you're dead set on getting an SS as an upgrade, start doing some backsquats or whatever to strengthen your quads. The proper riding position on an SS involves a tense lower back and tense legs to keep your body in an angled position. The upper part of your body, including your arms, should be relaxed and your grip should be loose (firm if you're going spiritedly through corners...not death grip though!) on the handle bars; there should be no weight on your wrists.

As others have said, the GSXR is the most comfy SS bike.

What in the hell are you talking about? Do squats because you need to remain tense? Your WHOLE body can be relaxed! Anything tense is silly. Unless you are as weak as Mister Burns from the Simpsons you shouldn't have to worry about keeping your quadriceps, soleus, gastrocnemius, or spinae erector in a contracted state. And the term is squat, backsquat is redundant.

The buffeting is pretty bad, but I guess you can get used to it, but the real issue for me was the front wheel lift on fast corners, pretty unnerving.

A naked bike will have next to no buffeting, you're confusing zero wind protection (allowing the full blast of clean air to hit you) with turbulence from a poorly designed screen or shield that hammers you like a speed bag. The Vstrom is a great example.

So I've got a question. All this complaining about comfort. Anyone work out? While riding any bike for say 6-8 hours is tiring (anyone who says otherwise is full of ****) I've never experienced all this sore and pain I keep seeing people post about. I'm getting closer to 40 and I can take it all day. Anyone ever thought of even a small workout routine to see if it helps?

As for the sport bikes don't belong on the street ****.... then no motorcycle over 250cc does. A baby 696 monster will still put you in hta 172 territory as would a drz as would a 690 Duke. .. so this whole idea is utter rubbish. Different strokes for different folks. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it shouldn't be allowed. If that was the case I wouldn't see a Hatley with stupid drag pipes screaming at 50kmh ever again

Are you a doctor, sir??

This is why I am waiting on the new CBR650F....87hp and no fetal position. As much as I liked the CBR600RR I test rode, I like to ride for hours on end which would be hard on that bike, plus given she doesn't 'sing' until you are way past the legal limit it would be too easy to get into 'trouble' at some point down the line.

\I'm a true kawi fan but man!!!!!

Last year at honda rock the red event...I went in there, sat on the cbr 600RR....as if the gods designed the bike around myself! I liked it soooo much..and I was sitting on it going 0 kmph!

P.S. #3 is a special for Paul :)

Don't be fooled, Paul just needs it to pick up chicks

I'm not a liter bike hater one bit, it's just the fact half the people who have them can't even ride them anyways, so what does it matter? They look super cool at L&L and KC though lol

Majority of the riders who have 600s cant ride them...

Atleast the guys who get 1000cc managed to stay alive long enough and keep their license long enough to be able to afford insurance on a liter :lmao:

No....just no. Go argue with Lee Parks, Keith Code, and whatever. They don't say you need to do backsquats, front squats or any squats in general but I've found it helps out. I have a hip flexor issue that made hanging off difficult last year and it went away after I strengthed my back squats.

Btw, look up what backsquats are:

Oh Paul, you don't realize how many of those bums don't actually have insurance.. It is scary and also pretty easy to run from the 5-0, when they call off chases in 2 mins nowadays.

How are you not a liter hater? Where are these facts from? Matter of fact all the liter riders I know all know how to ride.

Yes that's me on my liter.

I assume you don't do front squats then?
Cause they stink, are difficult, and man do they ever help with getting your overall squat numbers up! (especially if you hit a plateau on your ***-to-grass high/low bar squat).

I don't think he knows what back/front/clean etc. etc. is.

I specifically said backsquat because it's generally used as the benchmark for big ###s.
