How do I get a motorcycle up a 5 steps

Don't have a choice at the moment, the house doesn't have a garage. I plan on draining out all the flammable stuff to avoid fumes but I've had bikes indoor before and they never caused any problems, I keep them on a thick pvc mat so it doesnt damage the floor. And always have a fire extinguisher handy. My landlord is quite chill though I don't think he'll have a problem with it. As long as I don't turn it on indoors

Getting my ramp from Princess Auto this week, figure if i can line it up with the windows just right and pick up enough speed I can get enough air to clear the railings and patio altogether. Should be easy, will ask a friend to record...

Thanks for all the advice, everyone!

Good for you, you made a friend !! :)

remember, the rule is: if it's recorded, you have to post it.

It will still help to have two people to keep it upright, push and to keep a hand on the brakes so it does not roll back if you have to stop mid ramp. Just helps to prevent the potential for an epic fail.

100% agree. Look at youtube for bike loading fails and you'll see that ramps aren't quite as easy as they seem. I had one of my own fails when I was new and trying to load a bike into a truck on my own. My issue was as the bike goes up the ramp I didn't which caused it to start to lean. Once it started leaning there was no stopping it. I would consider having a second person depending how comfortable you are with moving the bike around. One person in front pulling and holding the bike up straight and one doing most of the pushing from behind.

It can definetly be done by one but it can easily get dropped by one too if not experienced.

I’m super shocked that no one actually said ‘one step at a time’ LOL

as for having the bike inside, I’d try to make sure your landlord is aware simply because insurance is a touchy issue and should something happen (unlikely) and they find out there’s a motorcycle in the unit...well have fun in court.

outside of that it doesn’t look like too much effort with 2 people to just lift it up and carry it up the stairs. But now you have a ramp!

Out of curiosity, is that a basement walkout they covered with the deck? Would have been sweet to be able to just roll your bike straight down and up whenever you needed, and potentially more room in the basement to also store your R1.

Not sure actually, there's a separate entrance to the basement and a family living there. my r1 will have to stay outside for now, I've got a thick waterproof cover and disc locks on that so I'm not that worried, also its at the back of the house and closed off from all sides so someone would have to be pretty brave to try to walk in and try to steal it.

Not sure, but it could be an emergency egress window for the basement apartment.

umm why aren't you already riding ? I must be missing something. EDIT oh yeah missed for sure- post 1

torturing yourself with that R1...september @#%^*!

I think maybe your landlord will freak, as may the family living in the basement.

Call me when it's time to do bike sh**.

Beautiful Ducati ... thought it was a Triumph Thruxton at first sight.

Is that why Duc's always have low km's? It's too hard to get them out for a ride.
