'Heartless' man remains out on bail

see ! i knew there was more to this story than what had been reported in the Sun. Obviously, the writer of the story wants people to feel sad about the victim ( and so they should ) but not everyone was innocent in this case. were the redncks the ones who started the trouble ? YES.

did the dude desrved to be run off the road ? NO
should the asians have retaliated for being pushed in the water ? probably.

theres a million different things that i guess the jury will have to consider. what was the outcome of the beating the asians gave the redneck ? normally, when theres a fight, theres the unwritten fight code that says people step in when someones been clearly outclassed, ( meaning dont kick a dude in the face when he's out ) even if its your friend thats winning, you stop him.

there must have been a pretty solid reason for this guy to Hunt them down and ram them off the road with a truck, is all im sayin.

Can you clarify? I read the thread as well and it seemed a bunch of Middleton buds were standing up for him / people that clearly don't like Middleton or his Dad ripping a strip off both. <br><br>
<br><br>
And some questionable "I heard from A, who overheard B speaking to C" calibre statements of 'facts'.<br><br>
<br><br>
Overall I agree though - ****** end to a ****** altercation.

I read that the Asians beat a guy, sending him to the hospital, that arrived at the lake after the incident, who was trying to help out. I know they were ******, I would have been too and might have done the same ****, but the guy didn't deserve the beating. If they turned the other cheek, this guy wouldn't be in his current situation, I know people must be thinking, 'Okay Mother Teresa', lol, but in situations like these, from the outside looking in, someone has to have a cooler head.

I didn't bother questioning whether or not the comments were true. But sometimes, you find more truth on social networks than you do in the papers.

How do we know the drunk 'returned' to help out? If he webt back to the scene, why would others return to find him b/c he was "left behind.". What happened that resulted in the drunk being beat up. Why would middleton pursue the civic?
Anyone who says the car crashed on it's own, should still know the truck (and driver) are culpable for the tesultig crash.

I'm surprised that there are no mentions in the news results of the drunk being critically injured. News papers love that stuff, why would they only mention the two guys hurt in the car?

Eff. I've been dreading this one...

Okay, I know a few of the accused; having come from this "redneck area" (let's stop that derogatory **** right now) and having raced motocross you tend to know when things go down. Yes, I recall this situation, and no I was not involved in any way/shape/form and have heard enough from enough "unintelligent, back-water, hilly-billy, non-city, rednecks" to believe the actual events of the day. Believe me, the story is VERY similar and has been since I started hearing about it and what the local paper wrote about the next day (look up the Era-Banner for reference).

1. MX thugs show up to be idiots
2. Idicracy ensues
3. Friend of thugs gets BEATEN terribly
4.Chase ensues (due to beating)
5. Accident is caused
6. Causers of accident return to downed friend
7.Friend is rushed to hospital

Seriously though; racism is a terrible thing but you're an idiot if you think it is limited to remote, small town areas and caucasians; this is everywhere and in every culture. I would appreciate if people stopped referring to the people of my area as "rednecks", to open their mind and see that this rag (the Sun)is simply a joke that is normally laughed at by most people posting in this forum and in this instance pandering to the bleeding hearts with a one-sided story loosely based on fictitious events, and that someone that never needed to be suffering is doing just that, with very little recourse from their insurance policy.

Where were the "thugs" when their buddy took the beating?

Where were the "thugs" when their buddy took the beating?

that is what lead me to wonder whether
a: drunk guy went back to bridge to "help"
or
b: drunk failed get into a vehicle leaving the bridge

both options are told int hte mx thread. trevor says he went back to find "forgotten" friend, while others said he went back on his own to "help" the fishermen.

neither really makes much sense.

my guess is that drunk was forgotten, found by the firshermen, which lead to an altercation where he was beaten and allegedly robbed, but thats my best guess.

I'm not.

Comment overheard in Bradford " XXX must be putting in more crop. I see he's hired a bunch more darkies"

Comment heard in Port Credit "I'm moving out of Toronto to XXX. At least you can spell people's names there."

Comment made in Toronto by someone I knew to a soon-to-be-bride in a mixed marriage " Couldn't you find a white guy?" (Yes he got reamed)

While I think Canada, Ontario and Toronto are far more tolerant than most places in the world it isn't racial heaven.

Try the prairies for anti-native attitudes.
I have heard my uncles use the term "darkies" in conversation. Yeah, they're farmers. My manager when I worked for Conestoga College would spend our entire morning break telling stories about how much he hates natives almost daily.

It's at times like this, that I'm completely disgusted by our legal system. A life is worth two years, less a day. Berwick will never function above the level of a 3 year old.

He would have ended up with the same sentence if he had been caught with a lid of pot.. This really makes me sick. Berwick had such a bright future and the prick took it away. 2 years from now, he'll be laughing it up.

Legal considerations prevent me from telling you of similar attitudes right here in T.O. involving many that you would trust.
It will mean 5 to 7 years of hell for the victims and a slap on the wrist for the perps.

Canada wants tolerant, understanding & forgiving victims. Sadly, justice has become a thing of the past.

Canada's "justice" system is terribly flawed.

You'd get a stiffer sentence for not paying your taxes, or excessive speeding, than you would for putting a kid in a coma and ruining the rest of his life, and those lives around him.

Sad state, our justice system.

If the MNR had dealt with complaints of locals for the years before this incident happened Shane Berwick probably wouldn't be in a coma and Trevor Middleton wouldn't be facing criminal negligence causing bodily harm charges. What few newspapers are reporting is that Asians have been coming up in large numbers catching as much as they can carry, leave litter behind and don't have outdoor cards.

Ontario's Natural Resources Minister Donna Cansfield said one of the most important steps taken by her ministry was to meet with the Asian anglers association and have the province's fishing regulations translated into Cantonese to prevent misunderstandings.

I'm not condoning the actions of Middleton, but I'm sure we are only hearing one side of the story. But from the quote above it appears the concerns of locals about over fishing and no outdoor cards was true.
