No win situation. Kid was apparently assaulting a teacher at the time (who ended up in hospital) and had stabbed a kid inside with scissors. Either go hands on and end up on the news slamming the out of control brat to the ground (most training is in how to beat people into submission without regards to their safety) or tase the kid and get on the news for that. Taser with followup medical attention is probably safer for the kid (and cop) than hands on.

When my newborn son was in NICU it took 2 adults to properly hold him still while the 3rd would do inject or do whatever procedure we had to do.

That might be a little different - a baby doesn't have the brute strength to harm those around them, the restraint is used to make sure no harm comes when the doc stabs a tiny vein in a fragile patient.

Our kids school has a padded closet. Some parents are appalled. I think it is a good thing if used appropriately. A quiet safe space where an out of control kid can exist while help comes. How they get the kids to the closet? Not sure. School doesn't talk about it. But my daughter had to deal with a violent kid with her class... the EA got stabbed in the hand with scissors, the teacher got punctured in the hand with a pencil. The class was always on alert and had a safe word to evacuate the class when the kid would act up... and the principal once had to restrain the kid and principal got $hit from the mother because he "didn't do it properly"
So the taser...i can understand, sadly.
Oh they had one too at that school. And they were denying it (specifically to that mother cause she was gonna complain). But the kid was talking about how he was put in there a few times and they were denying it lol.
That’s awesome. I remember having one at my middle school. It was called the ‘Reflecting Room’.
A friend was a high school teacher and retired early because one kid was acting up so badly he was about to punch the kid out. He didn't need the drama or consequences so quit. They lost a good teacher. The brat kid's parents were teachers.
