We'd been talking in PM's about something and I wanted to get ahold of him to move forward on the plan....but it appears he hasn't been on since spring, and he's not reading PM's either.

He is on ADVRider. 2young
Not a member there and would prefer not to setup an account just to send one single PM...perhaps you or someone else could drop him a message and ask him to check his PM's here?
Thanks.

sent but it's a worthwhile forum ...lots of good reviews and rider reports - big cross section of riders.

Forums are quickly going the way of the dodo, with users migrating to all manner of social media platforms. Same thing happened with Usenet. And then it happened with BBSes.

Same kind of mass migration will eventually happen with FB and TikTok a decade and a half from now. The next generation will never want to be on the same platform as Gramps is on.

Frankly, I'm surprised GTAM has lasted this long.

I estimate there are presently two dozen regular posters on here. A couple of years ago, it was double that figure. A couple of years from now, it will be half. Just be thankful that Paul didn't sell this place to VerticalScope. There'd be three posters on here right now if that had happened.

VS did buy ADVRider earlier this year. That's basically the death knell for that forum.

No "mass" to migrate. Very fractured set of interests on 2 wheels - the nice thing about forums is the local aspect. We have a Cairns Rider section on ADV to keep in touch and many of us detest FB and others.
AdBlocks or Brave take care of the ad nonsense.

That's exactly the thing. This forum skews heavily left and it's no surprise that the first people to jump ship are right-leaners.

It's just part of this polarization/echo chamber effect that we're seeing everywhere in the world. So easy to find and stay with people that think the way you do, and shut your eyes and ears to other opinions. And I'm not just talking about the users who left...

I've never been a fan of all this political talk on motorcycle and other special interest forums.

The direction we're headed in is not healthy in the slightest.

I find that the forums that cover a broader interests (GTAM or ADVrider etc) vs the forums that are model/bike specific (r6messagenet, 600riders etc) have a little more life in them. Of course nothing compared to 10+ years ago.

The forums that cater to a specific model tends to get more users dropping off as they move on from that specific bike onto another. Also, as the models are fazed out by the manufacturers, you also loose a lot of potential buyers and forums users.

When I had my FZ6 I created an account of Yamaha FZ6 Forums - FZ6 Motorcycle Enthusiasts Forum. I tried to use it as a resource however I found the forum to be pretty dead. If you posted a new questions or started a new thread, it would be days before someone read it, never mind replying to it with useful information. Searching through the archives was the only viable option that would possibly steer you in the right direction.

I too am quite surprised that this forum is still alive and not taken down from lack of users.

I won't jump ship. Jousting with lefties makes me look smarter than I am.

Speaking of missing people, I wonder about Chinese characters guy, hope he’s doing alright.

For me, I enjoy forums though I don’t post a ton. Great repository of information and community. I just can’t do Facebook or god forbid Tik Tok
