Has anyone met a scammer?

Ever get boxed in at a parking lot with that van who sells "excess inventory stereo systems"? Happened to me twice that year!

I get that all the time. Sometimes I feel like there's a sign on my back or maybe I appear like the character that would buy

i got asked if i wanna buy an iphone at a red light, some young guys in the left turn lane honked at me and showed me an iphone box,
"do you wanna buy an iphone?"
no thanks...

My brother came home with some white boxes with "speakers" in them he paid some dude in a white van at Home Depot $1100 for. I packed up my shotgun for a refund and headed down to the home depot but he was already gone :(

Well I was planning on "following him home", not confronting him at the home depot. The shotgun was just there for backup, wasn't planning on "presenting" it right away ;)

This is the kind of thing that will get you in **** one day, and don't be surprised if the rcmp take back that PAL from you.

My buddy (yes real buddy not me pretending to be him) had a guy ask at Ryerson if he wants to buy a cheap laptop. Bud says sure and meets the guy at the Coffee Time on Dundas, gets the box and says he wants to open it. The guy (and his buddies) said 'ya of course but let's go in the alley so you can try it there'. Buddy got freaked out and just paid the $600 for the laptop...he bought $600 of newspapers in a cardboard box with a pic of the laptop on it...lesson learned, don't buy laptops on the street.

Uh...wow.

Wow, that sucks. Thats why when I buy/sell stuff on kijiji, I usually ask my brother to come along and I do the same for him.

I just tell them I know TAFB, scares the crap out of them.

Are you being funny or do you not know Jamies RCMP story? :)
LOL :)

Paul, I don't think they'll ever give my PAL back ;)

So how do you own a shotgun and tote it around with you?

That may have something to do with why he's no longer able to get a PAL.

I've never fallen for the speakers in a van scam. That's because I'm very particular about my audio gear and only buy certain brands. I just laugh them off when approached. Only scam I've given into was the old, "I'm out of bus fare, spot me $5 and I'll send it back to you. Give me your number." I know they aren't going to call but it wasn't much money. I buy a lot of stuff off Kijiji and haven't been scammed so far, same with the items I've sold. Met in person, cash exchanged for item.

I was speaking in past tense.

See above ;)

I am curious.
How did you smuggle in all those guns?
How did you get caught?

* I ask because I find it interesting all the bs laws and enforcements. They are happy to bust people balls for bringing in an extra liter of alcohol or extra pack of smokes. I watched 4 border service people just raked a woman over the coals for not declaring all the baby clothes her little kids were wearing and she bought. I over heard the amounts and it was $200 or so she did not declare for kids clothes.
So 4 people on kinds clothing vs. people smuggling firearms.
Damn! a grenade launcher.
