HACKED By SMAIL MAX

I just received an email with a link to reset my Gameloft live password. Seems very odd as if I do have a Gameloft live account, I haven't used it in some time (maybe years). The email included a very familiar user name, which is similar to the one I use here... What to do? I'm obviously not going to click on the link, but is there anything else I should do?

Is it just me or do some posters seem a little out of it these days?
i.e. not sounding like they usually do?

Look at it this was. For most logins are two part user name and password.
for email addresses your login is often your email. That means the hacker has at least 50% of your required login details. That's how it's looked at from an IT perspective. Now the chances of the password being guessed might be relatively low (in fact the emails being sold to spammers is more of a risk) but it's still possible that you email could be brute forced or used for some kind of targeted phishing.

Gmail with 2-step authentication. Good luck to the hackers brute forcing it.

Do you have a PayPal account attached to your email address? eBay? Bank account?

Yep, yep, and yep.

a great feature but most people don't know about it or use it. I don't cause of the way I like to run gmail of some of my devices and not sure how it would work with it. I do however have phone notification on. I think gmail is fairly secure against brute force and dictionary attacks. The phishing is the bigger issue

It works by it generating "application specific" passwords, which can be entered and used only on the app you're authorizing. It's pretty neat actually. I probably have about 9 different devices logging into my google account for different stuff and different permissions.
