The V-Rod was a Porsche design and came out of the VR1000 road racing program. The Motor Company's big mistake (IMO) was building a power cruiser instead of a supersport bike a la Ducati.
UUUUUUUUM?????The Vrod would still be here if people bought them. Vrod was the fastest production motorcycle when it came out. Nobody bought. Who is going to buy one when Jap bikes are half the price?
Vrod was never a fast motorcycle, just a fast Harley. The Vrod would still be here if people bought them. Vrod was the fastest production motorcycle when it came out. Nobody bought. Who is going to buy one when Jap bikes are half the price?
Maybe the fastest harley pretty average to slow for everyone else. The Vrod would still be here if people bought them. Vrod was the fastest production motorcycle when it came out. Nobody bought. Who is going to buy one when Jap bikes are half the price?
UUUUUUUUM?????
V-rod was never ever the fastest production motorcycle never ever even close
2001 v-rod top speed 231
2001 hayabusa top speed 312 When I say 'fastest' I mean in the 1/4 mile. Your POS Vmax only produced a worthless 102hp in 2001 vs the Vrod's 115.
The Zx9 was 9.79 in 2000 way faster.LOL. Who in their right mind cares about top speed? I'm talking about fastest 1/4mi times. The 2001 Vmax with its crappy 100hp couldn't beat it. The Vrod had 115hp. The Hyabusa that came out later that year and could. Let's be relevant in our comparison here - I don't know anyone who ever used the top speed of their litre bike for anything other than imminent death. Cruisers or sport bike and top speed just don't mix.

Can't find the times for the 2001 Vmax. Probably erased quickly after the 2010 revision came out to cover up history.

Didn't Harley make a drag only version of the v rod? Maybe that is the one he is referring to.
I'm not the one that came out and said the V-rod was the fastest production motorcycle. You said that. When someone says that, it means top speed attained in a straight line.LOL. So your parameters that the Vrod is the fastest production bike is a bike made BEFORE the Vrod, in 2001, that specifically had a faster quarter-mile and/or 0-60? Did you need it to also be specifically silver in colour too? You seemed to have been proved wrong by a handful of examples made nearly a decade prior from Japanese manufacturers...The year was 2001 when the Vrod debuted. List the bikes from that year and their times that could beat the Vrod. You'll find one (1). It was the 'busa which came out later that year. Everybody pretended that HD couldn't build a fast bike, but they did, just to prove they could. Harley haters everywhere were making excuses. They still are.

A 98 R1 was hitting 270.
Then came this stupid V-rod. Never ever claimed to be the fastest production motorcycle. But you went ahead saying it like it was gospel.
You were unequivocally wrong my friend

Jeeez. Does the winner of this one get a prize? A sticker?
So from that list, we have the following bikes with faster 1/4 mile times released in 2001 or earlier:The year was 2001 when the Vrod debuted. should i admit this? is this entrapment?Fastest 1/4mi bike. The only measurement that is relevant at any time. The only measurement that matters. When was the last time you did the top speed of your bike? Get serious.
