Go on a Goldwing forum. The average age is "nearly dead" The average weight is "Should be dead"Need more active 20 to.30 year olds who can afford this hobby...
I like motorcycles.
IRL, people roll their eyes when I talk because they're like, "ofuk again with the bikes..."
Here, people roll their eyes at me as well. But for entirely different reasons.
I like motorcycles.
Totally agree - need more of the longer ride reports for sure.I like the long ride reports whenever they come out, especially when maps and routes are included. The technical section has always been a wealth of knowledge.
I miss is the frequency of longer rides that used to be posted in the Rides/Hookup's forum. There were a lot of 800km+ twisty rides posted throughout the season - doesn't seem to happen much any more. Not sure if it's because of other sites like meetup or various Whatsapp groups.

Long ago I went on some GTAM rides. Not for me. Too many people, too much dumb crap happening, too many people in the ditch. Normally I go solo or with a small group of like minded riders. On at least one GTAM ride, I split off from the group and met them at the destination as I wanted no part of what was going on. Later that day while headed south on the 400, one GTAM member (who is almost never here anymore), passed on the shoulder at ~200.Admittedly, I haven't participated in many group rides, but I noticed that after the Scarborough Rides stuff, that area really died down. Also, I am pretty sure this forum's demographic has shifted and people that frequent forum just don't have the time to do a full day.
lol I filter by stating my rides start at 6:30am and are about 1000kmWhen I used to organize group rides, I'd filter the participants by setting the meet-up time for 8AM. Always got good sorts of people showing up.
Gross generalization I know, but riff-raff doesn't tend to wake up till 10AM.

I guess that's why the same 2 or 3 people ever come.

Even without the hooliganism, a lot was people in way over their heads. No matter how many times they were told to ride their own ride and they would wait for them ahead, just terrifying crap in corners or parking in corners (speed limit minus 20) and then a missile on the straights (speed limit plus 100). Not my style at all and high probability of a crash.Ditto. I do group riding, but I do it with people I know in circumstances where there's expectations so far as how everyone rides.
I went on a charity ride 3 years ago for something that was (at the time) near and dear to our hearts. There was probably 300 or more bikes. It was my wife's first ever exposure to that sort of thing and I rode behind her as a blocker if it became necessary and we kept in touch on the intercom just in case I saw something about to happen she didn't see. Sure enough within the first 10 minutes there was several wheelies.. Then people standing on their seat hotdogging. And the usual "hands in the air look at me" smattering through the group. I explained to my wife that it only takes one of those people to go down at 90kph to potentially take out a ton of other innocent riders who are now tangled in the resulting wreck.
Now she understands why I avoid those sorts of rides.
Everyone here (at least the ones I know and are regulars) doesn't strike me as those sorts, but yeah, it only takes a few to potentially really ruin the experience overall for the others who just want to go have some safe non-hooligan fun.
You're far too nice to be called riff-raff. Plus I would start the ride late for you anyways.Did you just call me riff-raff?

6:30 is not the issue, but1000 kms on my bike would put me in the hospital!
