GTAM at TMP Weekend! July 20/21 2013

Ya thanks guys. I wish I could go practice right now. This track stuff is addicting. I'll try to hang off further.

Yeah, I find that to be the sucker part of the hobby---going home after a track day, then with the help of others, feedback, and more reading, you get the light-bulb over your head, you really wanna go try the new knowledge....but alas, you've gotta wait weeks!

If I understand correctly this was your first track day? You are doing *extremely* well for a novice - be proud.

Yes, next step might be to try to get your body off the bike to the inside a bit more. But really, you are doing much much better than most people their first time out.

There is no limit to the stuff to learn in this sport, if you have the interest and inclination. Enjoy yourself.

Yeah thanks I've done the intro to track school and a 2 hour private event at mosport but this was my first full track day.

I know I got a lot to learn but I want to make sure I'm breaking bad habits now. Like when I went to the dragon and saw my pictures I didn't see anything wrong with it then people started to point out my toes sticking out. I would of never noticed. Even these tmp pics, you guys are right my head should be out more and I shouldn't focus too much on knee dragging. Gtam is great, sometimes. Lol

My pit neighbor also told me to keep the bike out in the sun and keep the Jerry cans in the shade. Can anyone confirm this? He seemed very knowledgeable but I seen so many people not doing what he said

For the longest time I would take my laptop to the track along with my GoPro. I would get mates to follow or lead and film me. I'd also be running a camera facing them. In between sessions we'd watch video and see what was good/bad. Every time I go out I have something to work on. Video is a great learning tool.

And back to back trackdays are a bonus.

Really? Damn I always try to get my knee down. This is the advice I need.
I only use my knee as a guide to know when my toe is about to touch down. And toe let's me know hard parts will hit if I lean further. If a stuck out knee catches a curb or even worse a hay bay it may break your pelvis, or rip you off your bike.

Rubber will degrade faster in the sun, basically tanning your tires. Ever seen someone who tans too much? Skin looks crappy as they age? You get the idea.

Jerry cans-gas expands when heated. Gonna end up with pressurized cans, which could be hazardous when you go to open them up.

Thanks a lot brother! Will you be there in Aug? I'll be there with a buddy we should pit together

no prob. Ya so far I will be there Aug., 3,4 and then evening session the 8th. August 3.4 I'll be running my road bike still and hopefully by the 8th my new dinosaur zx7r lol. Look forward to doing it again. I have a lot to work on but practice like everything with commitment makes good. I just enjoy being out there. I don't have an extravagant set up, just a back pack and my bike for now. Was so nice to meet lots of new people with the passion for riding. hopefully eventually I can emulate Marc Marquez or Stefan Bradl hahaha, lofty goals for sure :)

These vids are great, I wish somebody filmed the intermediate group on the 20th.

@Daisoman: you appear to be just past Turn 10 at about 0:37s in the video, and don't appear again in the footage (2:07), so on that particular lap you were running 1:30+ pace. You had somebody in front of you though, so he/she might have slowed you down. The good part is this is probably indication there's room for improvement, and every time you shed some seconds---the feeling is freaking great, even better than the riding itself :)

sorry I only take one session in green... that was the time I skipped my session.

I will try to take some of class next time.

That's me in the second video, third bike around 0:06 in. I was in the beginners group.

I have no doubt I have a lot of room of improvement.

cool man did you get stuck behind a straight-line bullet gsxr at all ridden by a bit larger girl? i seamed to have a magnet to this person each session. Her bike was deadly on the straights though and it was frustrating. towards the end of the day i think you and i were running very similar times. mighta been someone else on a red cbr though.

Was that the gsxr with grey unpainted fairings?
