GTAM at TMP Weekend! July 20/21 2013

cool man did you get stuck behind a straight-line bullet gsxr at all ridden by a bit larger girl? i seamed to have a magnet to this person each session. Her bike was deadly on the straights though and it was frustrating. towards the end of the day i think you and i were running very similar times. mighta been someone else on a red cbr though.

There was a girl on a Gsxr being held up buy all you guys in beg group lol

Was that the gsxr with grey unpainted fairings?
yeah.....*gulps in fear* I dunno in the mid section it was hard to get around this person and the bike was a rocket in the straights. I just felt like I could have had more fun in the infield if I wasn't following this person a lot, I for some reason on 3 laps either got blown by on the straights or cauaght up to her/him(I don't really know or mean to offend this person) in the infield. that bikes fast! what the hell is that thing, a 750 for sure no?

There was a girl on a gold/black/white GSXR who was very fast, and there was other girl on a bike without belly pan. I think she improve quite a lot at the end of the day. Indeed I think everyone in the beginner group are significantly faster at the end of the day. If anyone is blocking you, you can always exit the track, and go back right away. You can also slow down on the straight to build some distance.

He can also remember he shouldn't call people out with body descriptions like "larger"... but you would think it is common sense

If someone thinks they are fast they should be able to go around a slower riders no matter what

Ok , next time, I will do these things, it wasn't that bad, getting to line first in the last few sessions gave me clear air for a few laps and then it was pretty fun passing a few people even, because I don't think i'm so great especially before lunch but it was nice to improve throughout the day and I'm just glad I didn't total my ride home.

Your right, I feel bad and apologize.

lol. That's a 210lb dude with long hair. We call him the engineer cause there is always a train behind him. He's only been ridin a short time and is terrified of lean angle. And that's a bone stock 2011 750 with a one tooth smaller front sprocket.

ahahaha that's funny as hell. I figured it was a 750 because its just a touch faster then my bike down the straights. Oh well hahaha. At the end of the day I caught up to him again and passed legal and clean before the kink and it was good times. I didn't want to break the passing rules and get black flagged my first time out.

Also I was wondering at the end of straight 1 and 2, are you aloud to pass in the actual turn? I would lay off if had the run just to be safe, but I figured out a really good breaking point for those parts as the day went on, so its probably best to justr lay off though right? and try to get the drive and inner angle on say the break off in turn one onto the second straight? I used that closed off shortener to infield as a guide as where I should start really entering the 2nd straight. I can't wait to do it again this weekend.

If you were paying attention at the riders meeting you would know that at a GWB track day they dont emphasize strict passing rules but instead and awful lot of....wait for it...common sense.

If you can get beside someone **at the beginning** of a breaking zone it's fine to come up on the inside, just make sure you're done your pass long before the other rider is about to tip into the corner. Once someone has turned in say in corner one if they are going slow it's also fine to go around the outside as long as you leave them lots of space.

DO NOT try to pass on the inside coming into a corner. If you try to come up the inside as someone else is turning in you're going to cause a massive accident.

Again common sense, if you're in green group try to leave multiple bike lengths between you and the person you're passing. In yellow you can be a little more aggressive but dont do anything that might spook someone. As long as you're not being a fool you wont get black flagged, and even if you do the track staff will merely bring you in and ask you nicely not to....the first time.

All the staff wants is for everyone to be safe so just dont be a danger to anyone else and you should get on with your day just fine. If you're not sure about whether a pass is or isn't acceptable to make, please dont hesitate to come up to any off the staff members and ask. Thanks.

Also if you feel you cant safely get around someone, just pull into the pits. Wait half a lap and go back out when you're not behind them. It really is that easy.

^It was a gtam track day. You were only allowed to pass on the straight between 1-2, 2-3, 5-6, and 6-7.

and there were 30 odd people in the group.

ok thank you. That's pretty much what I did so that's good. What is GWB out of curiosity? it was a tmp/gta event I believe but yeah pretty much I figured it was common sense and I always made sure I was clean, the person seen me and I was done the pass before tipping in. If it was gonna be close I just eased off and followed and waited till next time.

Next time I will do this, good idea, but I think I wont be passing much in intermediate hahahaha, other way around probably. Should be a good time.
