The justice system, built as it is by humans, is surely imperfect.
But compared to the alternatives — trial by press or social media in the absence of investigation and sometimes, as with the two Liberal MPs who were driven from Ottawa the same year as Ghomeshi was charged, even a forum for the accused to speak — it is brilliant, occasionally even magnificent, as it was this day."

Dangerous days when these professional victims are constantly moving the goal posts and lowering the bar for what constitutes sexual assault.

What the women thought: Jian is a freak but he's connected with all kinds of talent agents and higher ups in the media world. It might be worth it to go out with him in the hopes of advancing my career.

I was watching some of the protestors, those women say we must believe the victims, they are telling the truth.
uhm, a Judge said they are liars...but we must believe the 3 liars...boy do they look stupid and devaluate their cause.

Personally, those women protestors set back the cause of women and really women look stupid.
They also mock real victims that need ppl to believe them when there is a bit of grey area whereas these 3 liars created an environment founded in lies.

I am surprised they did not say the judge was biased...since he is a man.
 
If anything I hope true victims of sexual assault learn from this.

If it happens, report it right away. Don't communicate or engage with the subject again. Ignore them.

If you've been raped or physically abused, go to a hospital and have it reported and processed accordingly.

And lastly, keep your mouth shut.

Is that blaming the victims or accused??? Maybe.

But, it wasn't a crafty defence attorney that got their client off on a technicality. Or surprise witness to debunk the charges.

I've always felt it was a matter of embarrassment of the ladies and they thought by coming forward to taking part, they were doing good.

How could they spend time with such a creep? Hang out with him?

It was time to stand tall and put an end to this shady fella.

I'm not saying they deserved to get punched or slapped or whatever.

But you certainly don't go back or pay them compliments after the fact.

I am not picking on you but when ppl call Ghomeshi names for his type of sex life...then aren't you also degrading the women that like/chose to participate in that type of sex. It takes 2 to tango.

Where is PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY? I believe the judge made mention of common sense in his statements.

Let's see how these groups react to the day when a butchy lesbian is accused of raping/sexually abusing another (attractive) woman.

It's an opinion.

And where was ghomeshi's personal responsibility?

In his own words trying to get out front of the accusations, he admitted his sexual preferences maybe viewed as strange, weird or offensive.....

If I worked in the public eye, I'd take steps to make sure my private life indeed remains private.

It became public.

I can form the opinion the guy is a creep. Maybe even someone that is used to getting their way because of their "celebrity" status.

Does that make him a criminal? Never thought so.

But then again, there are all kinds of people I disagree with, or don't like and don't mind saying so based on my own opinion.

I don't think you are picking on me. Far from it.

I think it's terrible this fella got dragged into court for this. He's in a terrible spot because if he was to try and pursue the the courts and accusers with a civil action, it would look bad.

Yet his career as it was is over.

Law enforcement needed to investigate things a lot better in the future before they hand over the evidence to the crown to consider.

Innocent does not have to translate to likeable.

I put ghomeshi in the same category as Kanye.

They are turds. And if they had any sense of personal responsibility over themselves, they wouldn't have to worry about having to defend themselves in court.

That's my two nickels anyways.

It's hard to understand what's going on in the female brain. Reading online it seem women are 9-1, maybe more, against the verdict. OK, they're biased. I get that. But the conclusions they're running with make no sense. Number 1 being that the justice system is stacked against them. Dafuq? Pick up the phone, cops will haul your man away no questions asked. This particular case went to trial...a very time consuming, expensive and labour intensive process.....initiated by proven liars. What more do they want? Total and complete victimhood no questions asked? No accountability whatsoever? Mind boggling. Losing a lot of respect for women.

Would it be unreasonable to surmise that his pit bull lawyer, Marie Henein (spelling?), charged him $1 million?

Exactly. The whole fiesta including those protesters did a deserving to women. Not only it shows women can lie too (which understandable as everybody can lie) but they accept other women liars regardless. The latter point is more troubling as it shows these people have no sense of justice, logic, reason. They do not function as a whole person, a citizen. No wonder the gangster government got the votes they got because their mind can be easily manipulated. These people are damaged goods with retarded intellect. They are beyond fixable!

the mental state of most young women are in such poor shape, including the ones I've been with before, it almost got me to think that this is some large scale of plot to dumb down western world. We all know, dumb moms -> dumb children -> dumb people eventually. And dumb people are easier to control.

Last night on The Fifth Estate, Lucy Decoutere was interviewed post trial and she came off as an absolute flake. Selective memory, convenient amnesia and changing her story to suit her needs. I can see how the judge saw her as completely lacking credibility.
