They didn't qualify as a band. Worst Canadian barbershop quartet would be a better description.

Thanks BlueKawi. In the first one he wasn't trying to get ahead of the curve by 12 hours, he knew of the accusations and the accusers connection to the writer for a long time. This writer of the above piece is doing the same as everybody else. Ho hum.

The second one make JG very unlikable. Yes, I know, D'uh!!

Most of you are forgetting that Jian is INNOCENT until proven guilty. But, by the looks of it, you have all concluded that he's guilty simply b/c of some allegations that you heard/read in the news. All of you don't know him, but are acting as though you do. Shame on you!

Jian's an incredible talent and a respected artist. Sure, his sexual behaviour, if proved true, may seem eccentric. But, most great artist are eccentric. Instead of vilifying him, people should embrace him for his differences.

As for the allegations, these women are all crying "wolf". They all wanted something from Jian. And, as most women do, they use sex to get ahead. That should be the topic of discussion, as opposed to how men mistreat women. Women manipulate men with sex. You don't hear that about men, b/c men don't do that.

Just recall the woman who says that she gave Jian fellatio just to get out of the room. Yeah, right. She gave Jian a blow job so that she could manipulate Jian into getting her a job--and she did!

Also, it's funny how when a progressive, leftist guy (aka Jian) needs some support, all the leftist stab him in the back. Where's Schneller--gtam's champion of leftist/socialist ideals. Schneller, why aren't you defending Jian?

See, it's just the Ford Nation types that will defend their man regardless. Doug Ford once said that Rob could commit murder on the steps of city hall and the nation would still support him. I'm more of a thinking person. I agree with the legal notion of innocent until proven guilty, but it doesn't look too good for him. This situation is complex and nuanced, not at all like Ford (either one) for mayor. My first reaction was that the allegations sounded fishy, with the women coming out in the media instead of the police, but as more info comes to light, that 3 women have talked to the police, along with his reputation that I had no clue about, I'm leaning more towards guilty of assault/sexual assault as my opinion now. It will be good to get this before the court where it belongs.

Technically this is probably true, in fact I'm pretty sure it is. In reality tho he will have to prove his innocence. This not insignificant detail bothers some people. And Schneller? He appears to be keeping a very low profile after making some grand gestures about building a DIH work bench. Puzzling to say the least.

I wasn't happy with my bench: too heavy, too big, my garage space too small. I unscrewed it all.

Sorry, my ma always say "think before you speak". I'm still working on it

Well, I just read through like half the thread and gave up, but wanted to add my two cents.

I'm a bit torn about this guy. I mean, I don't think there is anything wrong with really kinky BDSM stuff if it's consensual and I've engaged in some stuff myself that I'm sure some people would find questionable (nothing extreme though, I've never punched a woman, that's for sure). I also find it suspicious that many of these women came back for seconds after the fact and are claiming abuse years later. This is especially a bit hard to take in an age where millions of women are reading books like 50 Shades and clearly fantasizing about stuff like this. Also, from some of my personal experience, I've probably been passed over by more women for not being aggressive enough sexually, then being too aggressive. And even hearing women talk about sex I hear many complaining about guys being too timid in bed, not knowing what they're doing, or not dominant enough, etc. then the other way around.....in fact, I've never heard a woman saying "he was too aggressive/dominant". It seems like us men, are getting mixed messages all over the place and it's hard to tell what's what but I'm guessing this is simply because every woman is different. One thing seems fairly clear to me though is that this guy is not very good at "feeling out the boundaries" or introducing the kinky stuff gradually. I mean, one thing you need in this kind of engagement is trust and it's a bit hard to have "trust" with a one night stand or someone you met last week. It sounds like this guy pretty much whips out the chains and belt on a first date. He's doing it wrong. I think that much is clear and yes, he seems like a bit of an *******, and has some major issues. But is he a criminal? I'm not so sure.

Also, if leaving bruises is automatically assault then I guess I've assaulted women before and I've also been the victim of assault. I've had an ex that was into some kinky crap. One time she left such massive claw marks on my back that she drew blood and it probably took about two weeks for my back to heal. To be honest, I didn't really enjoy it .......I guess now, about 5-6 years later I could come out and say I've been abused and/or raped.

The steady hand that guides us. Always appreciated.

I think that the difference is in drawing a line between enthusiastic sex, and assault.

Right, and the issue of consent. That any of the women came back for round 2 is troublesome. Is this actually the fact for any of them?

I agree with this 100%. I read through this thread this morning. Everyone has differeny opinions and people often get offended over touchy subjects like this.

IMO Being a public figure, Ghomeshi is an easy target. Eff over the wrong girl, she accuses you of rape, and say bye to your career. Whether or not the allegations are true, i believe women have too much power when it comes to this.

Regardless of who's right or who's wrong, just looking at the collections of articles over this topic shows what the landscape is like in this era of social media justice. I've just read through a few articles posted with reasonably hysterical titles that basically say "I worked for Ghomeshi in the past, nothing happened, but phew, I bet it nearly did". I.e. tons of people associating themselves with the story for nepharious ends or 15 minutes of fame. The circus surrounding this story is nearly as interesting as the story itself.
