Full leather for street riding stupid?

My advice is wear whatever you can afford, but wear it. Don't buy uncomfortable pieces or high maintenance pieces if it means you won't wear them.

I am interested in those step-in and zip-up jumpsuits like Aerostitch but I have never seen one in person.

I have used a 1 piece suit on the streets its hot as sh@t when the temps are up there, I do ride in jeans and a T shirt in hot weather, and also do where a jacket and gloves and boots on more spirited rides, I have had a few finger tips ground down almost as sharp as a pencil back in the Days of riding my RZ350.....it all your choice. I am thinking of trying out a more vented suit if there is such a thing.

Rave reviews on Adventure Rider for this: If I were shopping for a 1 pc, it would be right up there on the list.......I have traded emails with Ghazi, the fellow who owns the company- he is knowledgeable and aims to please. They even mail you test suits to try on before you order so you know how yours will fit when it arrives. Very thorough guy.

Yea the suit will save you against the guardrail or a tree, going fast you are ****ed no matter if you have a suit or not, maybe you are not going "REAL" fast ;)

Of course the suit isn't going to save you from smacking a tree or gaurdrail. if you're riding those speeds around those objects might as well wear whatever you want

Must be winter again...

Anyways i rarely wear a full suit on the street. Majority of the time id head out id take it easy, if i went out to ride like a moron id wear leather jacket and textile pants.

As dumb as this sounds whenever id put on a full suit all of the sudden id try to drag a knee on a ramp, or many other tempting corners.

I guess this thread is pretty old but I might as well add my 2 cents... I've got a Joe Rocket ballistic textile jacket, already saved my arm & shoulder some rash, the jacket didn't tear up but I smacked my arm pretty good. I don't think I'd ride without my gear on... been looking for some decent looking leathers for a good price too. I for one, definitely don't think safety is stupid.

sounds about right. Anytime i'm in my full leathers, I get this new found confidence and tend to take corners alot faster than I should.

Well that's not a problem with the gear, that's a rider problem.

Do you suddenly ride like a moron when you have newer tires too?

Somebody went and poked hundreds of tiny holes in the front of my leathers.

I don't get hot now, but sometimes have to wear a vest to prevent a chill.

Oh for sure. I'm totally aware of my actions and i'd have to remind myself to ease up. That said, i'd still rather be in my leathers.

Do you have to put on all your leathers for that, or just your right glove?

I have a Joe Rocket "Big Daddy" textile jacket that survived a 40km/h spill with no damage at all. Mind you my boot caught the initial impact and I tumbled the rest of the way. Bruised a rib is all.

I'm totally going to invest in leather gear at some point, but this textile jacket seems like decent stuff.

Seriously, wear gear if you want. Wear a douchevest if you want. Wear a T shirt if you want.

You ain't gonna change the world with your internet post pointing out gear is good and insurance rates go up cuz ********** make heathcare claims.

Insurance will always be high for canadians.

who the f cares what the other person wears.

Me, as long as i can't see your hairy ***, I'll just smh to myself and ride.

So in layman's terms your logic is, you're screwed either way so why wear gear?

I lowsided wearing next to no gear but luckily jeans which was a rarity for me. After that for a week straight I wore jeans and a leather jacket. The next day I squid because my mentality was, "I'm just going to work and after to eat, no highway, no recklessness". And I get hit by a car. Ironic.
I trust Lightcycle's logic more than yours. He says you're screwed either way so wear gear just in case. But also don't be an idiot on the street since it's usually rider error. Which it appears you have since you wrote off your bike 3 weeks after ownership...
