Friendly Reminder to Wear ATGATT

It's crazy to see the shorts, t-shirt and running shoe riders on the highway. Their mindset is "My body, my choice" is laughable because if they ever do fall or crash, someone else will be wiping the ooze of their skin and injuries... Very selfish behavior in my opinion. Ride safe everyone.

I also saw a female rider on a smaller bike the other day.

Helmet was the only gear.
Shoulder strap tank top and a leather purse/backpack.

I was tempted to talked to her at the lights. Not to get her number but to let her know about the importance of gear.

Road rash at any speed is absolutely awful. Imagine tripping running in shorts on the sidewalk, hurts like hell and you'll scab and heal for a week or two. Imagine going any speed faster than that and sliding? That might be the worst pain imaginable.

Add a wire brush to scrape out all the sand and dirty from the wounds.

I mean i lost some flesh falling off my bicycle at probably 18km/h

About the size of a lemon's footprint on the elbow and the size of a lime on the knee.

The healing process was not fun. Healing nerves are like getting random mild electric shocks.

Easy bro... remember you're on a Vstrom.

If a Vstrom rider is looking for numbers, he find the chicks riding KLRs.

I was in a cage this time.

Plus, I leave all the "number getting" to @bigpoppa . Don't want to create competition here.

A chick posted her experience some time back. She normally went ATGATT but her bike was in the shop when her boyfriend came by with a spare helmet and offer of a ride. She was only in shorts, a tee-shirt and the helmet when he goofed at well over the limit.

Apparently she skidded, rolled, bounced and slid almost the length of two football fields. She posed in just shorts, arms discretely folded, afterwards during plastic surgery. It was ugly. Pretty face.

Life-changing. Why risk it? We only have one body to use. Sad stuff.

Today I t-boned a car that pulled a u-turn in front of me. Fortunately I was only going about 30 km but I ended up with the bike on top of me. Full agatt resulted in only cracked ribs and some really interesting bruises. Can only imagine what it would have been like with shorts and tshirt. Hot pipes, gravel etc. no thanks!
Cops gave him full blame and the bike needs a front end.

Hope you are ok and have a full recovery.
Time for new bike?

Sorry to hear that. Wish you a quick recovery.

Happened around noon. Paramedics checked me out in the ambulance with all their gadgets and all my electrics and blood pressure was good but now I’m home and the ribs are really feeling sore so I would hope a couple of days will do it.
Front end is toast, no idea how to check if the frame is bent with the forks bent.
I just finished restoring this a couple of weeks ago, got it safetied and put 400 km on it. Now I have to start over…

I would guess those stanchions are done.

Take a good look at those headtube welds as well.

I can do an LPI check for you if you wish on the head tube welds. Shoot me a PM

Really sorry to hear that. Glad you are ok and that's unfortunate timing for the bike.
When I last had a moment with a car and the forks were bent, since I was going through insurance, they immediately wanted to write the bike off. So if that's the case for you, then hopefully you can buy it back somewhat cheap to fix up.

Hope you heal up quick:)

Sorry to hear about the accident but glad you're "relatively" okay.
