For anyone looking for a contourHD...

I should have mentioned this when I bought mine. It comes with a couple mounting styles, one for the helmet and one for a dash or other flat surface. It comes with the instructions, a battery and a 2gb micro SD card. You can download their software for free as well but they ask for the camera's serial number to get it. It's a nice, easy to use camera. I highly recommend it over the GOPRO due to size. The advantage that the GOPRO has is the mounting hardware and that it's much easier to adjust the angle once you set it up. Neither camera has a live view option, but the Contour had 2 lasers that aid in aligning the camera.

Futureshop has it on sale now for 149.98 if anyone was looking to pick one up. Not sure what it comes with.|http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/prod...spx?path=33543a883cd4a9a92164fff31beb7138en02

Yes, because the camera slides off the mount (shown in photo #3) I can still access the lever to unlock the visor. That's why I decided to put it on the visor and not the helmet. I can always just buy a new visor should I decide I don't want it mounted and can't get it off, for some reason. LOL
Can you still change out your visor easy enough with that?

I'm tempted. It records to .mov, which sort of sucks.

What sort of battery life do you get?

.mov isn't terrible. The HD quality is amazing. I edit my videos in Vegas 9.0 and can render to almost any format anyway, so that's not a big issue. Plus, Windows Media Player will play the .mov files right out of the camera.
The battery is rated for 2.5 hours of recording time, but the 2gb card fills up before the battery dies. You can buy extra batteries for the camera if you're planning on a long trip and I think they're about $40 each. You can use upto a 32gb card which will hold, I think, 8 hours of HD footage.

You often find yourself recording boring rides to square one or what?

I start recording as soon as I back my bike out of my parking spot. I hope that I only ever need the footage for boring rides to square one. It's more for "evidence" than anything else. If I want to re-live a ride, I'll go ride it again. LOL

Yeah I agree. I get into so many near miss situations I'd love to be able to have video documentation. I'd probably just use it for my daily commute. I was on the fence until this post, then I decided the price was too good to pass up.

I had the GOPRO but wasn't crazy about it, so I returned it. I wasn't going to buy another until my buddy showed me the Best Buy ad. It's almost half price and it's a good camera so I figured what the hell... I'm going to contact the Peel police and see if they're interested in getting the videos when something happens that's a close call, or reckless. I'm not going to be a tattle-tale but if someone is tailgating me or intentionally cuts me off/drives aggressively towards me then I'll turn it over for sure. Same goes for if I see people getting high in their car/drunk drivers.

Hopefully its conspicuous enough to act as a deterrent for some drivers - for those moments when eye contact just isnt good enough.....

anyone put a waterproof case on this and take it in the pool or the beach?

I have both contour gps and now borrowing my friends go pro 1080. Like my contour better, and for $150 the 1080p is a great deal. Actually, I find shooting on 720p Action at 60fps works best for fast speeds like on a motorcycle :happy3: so the contour for $150 will do the job for most especially if you just want to ride and have video evidence....

you MUST be new to riding

Nope! I'm a professional!!! I've had my bike for like a month and stuff! There is NOTHING anyone can teach me. Next week I'm buying a race bike and only driving it on the street in my underwear and a helmet with the chin strap not done up.

Recently just got a GoPro HD, might get this aswell and compare the footage and just use one in the car for "evidence".

What sucks is that it uses MicroSD... i bought a 32GB SD just for the GoPro too...
