federal election - who are you voting for

i dont see any of the main 3 leaders being decent for prime minister. its a best of the worst, and chances are harper will have a minority.
Not as if polls matter, but liberals have polled ahead of the conservatives 10 straight days in a row.

The correct statement is: Chances are, this is anyones game. and DON'T count the NDP out of the race either.

So i didnt know we had a marxist and a liberatarian candidate here in sauga-lakeshore lol

rocked the vote today :) f' line-ups on the 19th

Thats pretty cool. Good on them for campaigning. We need more highlights on diversity like that.

Nice to see the early vote have lineups in my area. Voted for the liberals not because I like the local candidate (I don't - Etobicoke Lakeshore) but because I think the libs have the best chance of getting rid of harper.

Bring back a conservative leader that actually doesn't want to mess with this country and they may get my vote back. Don't like what harper has done to this country, don't like these secret backdoor deals, and don't like the fear mongering being put front and centre.

Like I said, bring in a progressive conservative who governs Canada on what the people want and I'd be more than happy than to give a vote to them.

I think all the power got to Stevie's head in his term. Took on a "strict father" like persona during his reign whereby what he says goes. No listening to the people, no sense of negotiating. No sense of democracy really.

Whats the difference between a Liberal and Libertarian?

Not sure about how extreme the Canadian party is. But the libertarian philosophy assumes that people are rational enough to make their own decisions and so little government intervention is needed.

You make it sound so reasonable! In fact, all parties believe individuals are smart enough to make their own decisions, but they all differ on where exactly an individual's choices infringe on the common good. The Libertarian party largely fails to recognize that such a limit even exists.

So Libertarians support legalizing many drugs, guns, and prostitution. Other parties think some of those will put the broader public at risk. They want to withdraw from all foreign military ventures and abolish a bunch of regulatory agencies, like for food safety. Their idea is that if unsafe food is sold, individuals will stop buying it and the producer will go out of business. Most other major parties figure that would be poor consolation for the illnesses and deaths that would be required for such a system to work.

Or take Bitcoins, which have a strong appeal to Libertarians because it's a completely unregulated currency. Bitcoins have been hoarded by a small number of people who stash them away waiting for their value to increase. Since that removes so many Bitcoins from circulation, it's value is stagnant.

They believe the environment can be protected by giving unrestricted property rights to land owners!

But individual choices are often contrary to the interests of the common good, so extreme individualism can't form the basis for a sustainable system. So of course the Canadian Libertarian party is extreme, because that's where their thinking comes from to begin with. They fail to recognize the value of collaborative effort to achieving a common goal (like food safety or environmental protection).

Stephen Harper is coming real close. Give him another term and I think he can create the facist utopia he strives for.

Agreed, If he can get away and re-elected with all the fundamental changes he has made to Canada (and by that i mean destroying our rights), there will be no stopping him.

He has turned Canada into a mini police state with no more privacy or rights, two tier citizen classes and no regards for environment while sending us into a recession.
