Fall colors in Algonquin Park

NoStang sucks. That is all. :)

Ouch, now that is just mean....now back to our other regularly scheduled four wheel forum. :)

will you have your front brake fixed by then?
Most likely.

Although I did perfectly fine on groups rides these past few months. No problems stopping; some people can probably even vouche.

This is what scares me about group rides with riders I do not know......

That someone knows how to ride their bike?

The brake hasn't caused me any problems at all. It's in no risk of causing a crash or anything.

That you believe not having a front brake doesn't limit you ability to stop quicker. It's your mindset that scares me not your riding ability since I have no clue what kind of rider you are.

I do still have use of the front brake. It's just weaker.
The back also works fine.
I know if the front brake was stronger I'd be able to stop faster. I didn't say it wouldn't.

But, not gonna derail this thread...

corrected.

not to give you a hard time, but by your own account, you've been riding around with a seriously gouged rotor, partially seized caliper and brake pads worn down to the backing plate.

your vehicle is unsafe. if you had to come to an emergency stop around a corner because of something or someone up ahead, I have serious doubts about your ability to do so. that is not making any comment about your riding ability, but about the mechanical state of your motorcycle.

In an emergency stop, 90% of your braking is done by the front wheel. The back wheel will lock and slide or skip once it hits its maximum braking potential due to the forward weight shift during deceleration, meaning that you are likely to plough into the rider in front of you if they have working brakes and can stop faster than you.

Well, I've had to do a few similar stops already, and it's worked out okay. I also leave lots of room in front of me, and don't speed around blind corners as fast as I can; because I know how far I go before coming to a stop.
Well, I don't speed around blind corners anyways; if I can't see the roadway ahead I go slow, Brakes or no brakes.
Appreciate the concern, and rest assured I'll getting it fixed soon; just waiting on a rotor.

Now, to get this thread back on topic;
@OP, what's the $5 in change for?

You guys can discuss safe operating of vehicles on another thread or thru pm's
Please keep it out of this one.
On a side note yes please make sure your bikes are in safe operation, last year we had 30+ bikes.
The $change is to get into the Dorset lookout tower, I believe it's $3.

Sorry for sidetracking the thread. I was just keeping safety on this ride in mind.

For those who haven't been, the view from Dorset lookout tower is pretty cool, especially on a clear day.

Raf: how on earth do you have over 4000 posts, especially after "the great purge"???

Colors are changing fast.
Algonquin park is at 50-59% color change as of today.
So as of now I'm setting the official date at Sunday September 30th, Post #1 updated with the details.

I have no idea...I find it so amusing that people are so concerned about others post count.

I think I can make the 30th:) I'll let you know if I have some friends cone along.

Hopefully I will be able to make this ride....meeting spot is less than 5 mins from my place:o

Just curious..how far does the group usually go before needing fuel?

not "concerned", just amused. a lot of people with high post counts, myself included, seemed to get reset close to zero, or at least lose a significant number. it's curious your's is still above 4000. i was just wondering out loud if it was that high before the purge, or if you accumulated that afterwards. frankly, i couldn't care less about a person's post count. my asking was just a passing curiosity.

back to the thread: i can't make the 30th, so i'm out on this one. have fun everyone.
