That was fun. Hope we get in a few more rides before the season ends.
 
Bloody hell, I knew there was something up with my bike!

Problem #1, I've confirmed that the steering damper isn't doing what it used to do, although it still does something if adjusted almost all the way stiff ... that should do until the winter.

And problem #2, which explains some odd noises and funny smells ... one of the brake pads is worn to bare metal, but only one of them! The other three on that side and all four on the other side still have a reasonable amount left, and it's not because the piston is seized, it pushed back in easily.

I still had the original brake pads that I took off a few years ago and they still have something left on them, so the bike is good to go again.
 
Yes; on these brake calipers (which are same as GSXR1000 of the same era) each little piston has its own little brake pad.
 
Very niiice ! I felt even better when the cop let me go with a warning and I promise next time I won't let go of my handlebars on major roads;););)
 
I think that cop was going to pull *someone* over for *something*, no matter how well we behaved. All's well that ends without a crash or ticket ...

school till 7.....going to show up to this ride one of these weeks....
 
It might be possible, but it will have to be a SLOW ride. The smaller back roads are a disaster.
