Inside wall. Huge pain in the ass to add if it wasnt put in originally. I've retrofitted a horizontal and a vertical before. Not sure it was worth it. I think it was mainly an aesthetic improvement for the people but they didnt want a stupid recirc fan.
Oh man, if I could do it...I'd make it a 13x13 or so. 3/4 of it for the gym, and 1/4 for the office. Setup a nice heater in there and you're good all year round.
Gym in the garage is rough....5C yesterday. Makes for a quick workout.

Ah yes, and now you can't (or your not suppose to) vent through your attic either. So it would be a pain to vent horizontally.
My buddy did a bit of fixing up in his kitchen and found the vent pipe tucked behind the upper part of the kitchen cabinets. He had to remove the drywall/cabinets fake uppers to do some pot lights and now it looks weird with the pipe exposed. ?

Haha yes! Screaming kids? No problem... Wife is ******? No problem!
@GreyGhost You might be onto something here. I'll do some research on costs but I don't see it happening anytime soon simply due to funds...and actually having to return to work office environment soon enough.
, home office, Sea container dropped in side yard, angle grinder and you have windows and doors in about an hour. No permit since its 'temp storage'. Run power when nobody is looking.
yeah I know it would work for about a week till the nieghbor rats you.

LoL...I have one of those neighbours. Had to go talk to him when he was up on his roof taking pics of our deck being built. Interesting cat, but that issue went away once we had some cordial words and chatted a couple of times.
Apparently there was an old German dude that would call the city on you for anything and everything. He died right after we moved into the neighbourhood and I've had a lot of neighbours tell me he was a pain in their ***** over the years.

Not a bad plan. For the retrofits I did, that wasn't really an option. Vertical install was over an island and horizontal install could get out in 10' through the attic but would need 60' if you went down and out.
Considering summer will be a lot of time spent at home, we are considering setting up an outdoor theatre for the kids.
Anyone do this? Recommendations on projectors and best way to make a screen? Simple is a bedsheet on a frame or hung from 2 bolts in the wall. Or something more robust like a sheet of drywall but obviously that’s a pain to move around.

I would do a soft screen. Start with a sheet and see if its acceptable. they make proper screens with aluminum frames that are quick to setup but obviously more than a sheet. Alternatively, find someone with an old slide screen and it is probably free (but not huge).
there are literally hundreds of guys that built home projection tv rooms, bought the projector that ate $350 bulbs then decommisioned the whole deal when 85" TVs became 3 grand.
Kijiji / facebook market and score a nice leftover screen , much better image than a bed sheet and they can hang outside all summer,
only caviat is daylight veiwing isnt great and its daylight till 9pm. Who wants little kids up till dark? not me lol

Now if he put a rollup door on one side of his man cave/office, you could put the screen and projector in there and it might be ok when it's light out. It's for the kids honey. Funding secured.

Kick the junk out of the garage or to one side, paint the inside of the main door white and plug in the popcorn machine. Open the door a bit at the bottom if you need ventilation.
Outside any fabric screen might flap and make focusing a challenge.
Garage door is white, and the house is grey so technically I can use the door or side of the house lol.
the big screen tv may be an idea actually. Haven’t put up the 60” yet as with the restrictions I haven’t let dad come in the house to help out. We will see in a few weeks.
Range hoods are a scam. Some exhaust outside while other recirc through a filter that's never been cleaned. None of the three houses I've owned had one (30+ years) and we never had a problem. AND my wife is a clean freak. There's no build up behind or above the stove. Honestly what does cooking emit other than steam and some aroma.
To the poster wanting tile behind the bar I say go for it. I'm no pro and everyone thinks our tile is fine. Tile is a pretty straight forward task.
