Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Seriously... that is too much. I get we are trying to have green space etc, but with home prices what they are residences should have more control over them to mitigate risk. Plus doesn't the city have no money for baby sitting this stuff.
I had a branch fall down 2-3 years ago and almost hit my car. Like a normal person I took a chainsaw and cut the branch into pieces.

Called CoM to tell them a branch fell and I’m worried about the tree falling so they should come check it out.

‘Where’s the branch now?’
‘In pieces on the front lawn’
‘Who cut it into pieces?’
‘Me…should I not have?’
‘No you can’t touch. Need to leave it there and call us. Since it’s your first time I’m gonna pretend this discussion didn’t happen. We’ll have an arborist come out within a few days to confirm the tree condition.’

Really opened up my eyes.

“It’s an emo tree, it cut itself”

Hell, most people probably don't even realize that they don't own half their driveway and front lawn nor the trees there.

Found that out , subcontractor for Cogeco using a ‘rocket’ to tunnel under my double wide newly paved driveway, gets his rocket stuck when he discovers my concrete curbs are 24” deep. Cuts a two foot strip out of my driveway, rescues his tool and put pieces back in hole. I say ‘are you Fin kidding?’ , he says not your property not your problem. It’s fine. And he is the son of one of our nieghbours to boot. I say ok , thanks , that’s cool.
Waited two weeks , had our lawyer send a letter to the sub contractor, naming them in a suit of incomplete work that interrupted access to my property with no notice . Can’t ride my bicycle up my drive , named Cogeco and the Town of Milton since they approved the work permits for Cogeco wiring . They dismissed my suit as frivolous and wasting time , and then they repaved my driveway.

Anyone know how to clean this type of gun? It’s all gummed up and peeing like an old man with a prostate issue…

They have solvent cans that will clean it out (assuming it is a spray foam gun). It is basically a gun mounted spray foam can that contains acetone instead of foam. They sell the cans at Rona and HD but they are typically cheaper (including the foam) at Atlas. You can also soak the tip in acetone to get the outside. Mine has gummed up to the point I put the solvent can on the gun (can was about half used), zip tied the trigger and left it in a bucket outside for a few hours. I also take a bit of copper wire to gently clean out the tip with the trigger fully engaged (and no can attached).

You are supposed to clean out the gun with the solvent between uses. Sometimes mine sits for weeks with the foam can attached and it doesn't miss a beat, other times it is gummed up after sitting for a couple of days.

Thanks @GreyGhost and @backmarkerducati yes it’s the ‘Good Stuff’ foam gun.

I’ve got some acetone here so will soak the tip in it, just need to find it.
There are cans of the "cleaner" that you are supposed to use in between can of foam. Attach to the gun and spray. It will clean out the inside of it. THIS IS IMPORTANT IF YOU WANT YOUR GUN TO LAST A LONG TIME.

They are reusable unlike some foam cans. Some even come with a little spray nozzle you can attach to the top and use it like a spray can.

Half the price for the cleaner:

The foam and the guns are also way cheaper. One of those things I wish I knew a year ago....

The Sika cleaner at Rona is a larger can for less money but still not as cheap as Atlas.

Levelled out a Kevin Co. built deck at my kids house, rebuilt his old lanky boat trailer, tried to drive in some fence posts— ground still frozen in Timmins.

Todays a dirty day, installing a new sump and dehumidifier in a muck filled crawl space.

Does @mimico_polak PolCan do house calls in Porcupine? I hate crawlspaces, especially muddy ones.

Just had a major repoint job completed today, used Brian's Masonry and very pleased with the pricing and the results.
While I'm well aware that I could have done this myself, I needed it done in a single day as I have other work starting soon.
They did a great job, hopefully no more water issues, I could not believe the number of mortar separation issues I had....

Good day today thanks to the gorgeous weather.

Installed insulation, furring, TYVEK, on 2 remaining walls (out of 3). Repurposed an old window for the shed, took a while but we got there.

And found our Kevin’s shed is 1/4” plywood WITH the cladding on the plywood.

Tomorrow we rip out bottom 12” of shed in the front and start up again.

Would’ve preferred to ride…but project needs finishing.

I guess we both put the nice weather to good use. You go your reno done, I picked up tires (and a rain suit). Win win.

F you wayfair. I bought an outdoor wayfair bench from an auction a few years ago. Wayfair wanted over $500 for an aluminum bench with plastic wood. At auction it was something like $50 so worth a shot. Aluminum written in huge letters all over the box. Not a single piece of aluminum in bench, it must be branding not material description. Couldn't fault auction for false advertising as they were working with what was on outside of box. Obviously welding was done by a blind asian and it rusted. It got bad enough that this year I stripped it and repainted it. The whole point of buying an aluminum bench with plastic wood was supposed to be almost zero maintenance. It looks good again for now. Tried tremclad pro as I didn't feel like getting a gun dirty. We'll see how that holds up.

Wayfair, like all mail order furniture places can be very hit or miss, we've used them a few times without any major issues, but surprised be either the quality of the item or the lack of quality. But we do find many of their prices to be insane...
