Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

If it’s direct drive, you can see if the nut on the back of the spindle/spider came loose which doesn’t require pulling the whole machine apart, just the rear access panel (at least on my LG). A loose nut gives similar symptoms as a bad bearing.

Big thanks to @Relax for the live play by play via WhatsApp…but I concede defeat. $500 in parts MINIMUM and a metric ton of work to take this thing apart…

Sure glad I’ve got a spare 2k lying around 🤦🏻‍♂️ FML…(I don’t)….shouldve bought cancellation insurance for Mexico.

You don’t ‘need’ a 2k washer . You do need to make the loader and unloader of said appliance happy , but you can make clothes clean for $6-800.
I won’t bet on it but I suspect an $800 machine and a 2k machine have the same lifespan .

Cheaper may be longer. Top loaders like to live forever.

2k includes a dryer. I'm seeing 'normal' washers for $700-1300. I don't need wifi or anything else. Unfortunately Kevin made the space so tight that getting anything larger in will literally require me to modify the entire laundry countertop (which is cheap as hell), but I'm not planning on going much further than what is there at this point in time. I don't want to blame my wife, but she likes to overload the machine considerably and it's a constant struggle...but she feels she can add 30-50lbs of DRY clothes and the machine will be happy.....

It would require me to rip out the counter to install a top loading, or anything larger than the dimensions of what's there now.

Wife is going to Costco today to see what's available and how much. I'll go tomorrow. Today buddy has a good dolly which I'll take out the old washer after work as he's not home.

You can see below that the rear wheel was actually rubbing against the rear of the drum. The bearing is shot as I can hear it grinding when free wheeling.

How I wish I had more friends with this mentality...

'What do you mean you're only getting the washer!? You need the dryer too! Think how stupid it'll look if they're different colours / makes. Don't be cheap!'

@mimico_polak
I have a set of those appliance moving straps that goes on your forearms.
Let me know if you need them

A friend told me that this type of setup is good.
I have no real life experience with this to comment. Just passing on recommendations.

My parents had one of those when I was a kid. It was used to wash the 'dirty' cloths that my mom didnt want in her new washer as they would ruin it (???). I had a blast with that thing. Some things were a pain to get through the rollers. The little green army men weren't much of a problem.

So you mean your mom only washed the clean clothes in her clean washer. . hmmmmmm

Just joking.

My parents almost put a second dirty washing machine in as well. For my dads constructions clothes.
