Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Costco often has that style. Makes returns easier if it begins to leak in a while and parts aren't available.

Edit:

They have a Kohler and some dodgier brands as well.

That seems awfully cheap….but for that price, I’d keep the existing one just in case it’s needed in the near future.

I’ve bought an entire shower tower on Amazon before for 1/3 the price of HD options. 2 years later and works like a charm.

I call those ‘costume fixtures ‘. Kinda like costume jewelry, the look good but dont always last. I’ve done a couple, expect 5 years, bonus if you get more.

The biggest drawback is most are not serviceable, so when the valves start weeping you change the faucet, not the cartridge.

I’d probably buy 2 and then @Hardwrkr13 should be good for a long time.

Starts leaking? Just swap it out for the same thing.

Bricks...

Any suggestions on where to get a half dozen or so? Colour does not matter (filling gaps on the inside of a double brick wall). Ideally a place I can go on a Saturday... of course if anyone in the GTA needs to dispose of some....

Thanks for the feedback confirming what I was thinking also.

They have that exact style in Costco from a Canadian company. We got a black version and it’s been fine so far. With Costco if it’s crap you can send it back no questions asked.

Here’s one style (the one we got) https://www.costco.ca/vigo-pull-down-spray-kitchen-faucet.product.100167858.html

The black/stainless might be a good fit but the slow flow and easily chipping black paint reviews aren't encouraging.

I haven’t found any issues with the black paint and it seems pretty resilient. The slow flow is different, it’s a water saving feature I think, it’s definitely not a pressure washer-like jet of water but it’s been fine for dishes. There’s a Kohler one for about $60 more but it has a slightly different look. I like the more industrial style.

If the gaps are going to be covered, you can do a few things.
use rubble stones and mortar
or buy a block at Home Depot and break it into small pieces
Or fill with cement (sakrete).

Not sure what the appeal is of this style but it's popular. I've seen a ton of this style (industrial wash/prep) come thru the ReStore. Unlike Moen units that get a quick test and end up for sale most of the knock offs only make it to the scrap pile.

This is what I want to fill, never to be seen when done... I will remove those 2X4s that were ceiling joists (being replaced with rafter ties going the other way) and that spot (big hole) I made by mistake for the LVL... I guess I should have measured twice and cut once on that one.... oops. For most of these they have been that way for over 80 years so I could just leave them, but I will know and I am there.... The outside brick can be seen in back of the oops "big hole".

In the end I may just mortar in some Rona brick pavers if I cannot find any brick I can buy working a 9-5 day job. The inner block is really soft, the outer brick and crosses are super hard...

In other news the LVL is in (on the right), installed by wife and I--lots of foul language, angry "are you lifting" comments, talk of divorce and next day soreness :)

Those are small, I’d just shoot them with a can of spray foam.

Damn, speaking from first hand experience it's so easy to get disorganized, I was shocked at how much crap we had and tossed out during the move. Even now, we're bringing in boxes and asking "why did we keep this?" I have new garage to organize and I'm hopeful to keep it organized.
Property is to big to be looking around for stuff. Forgot a tool in the barn? that's a 1km walk there and back to get it... Yikes

100%. I'm finding it hard to throw out some stuff...but a decision needs to be made.

For now I'm still organizing. Once I realize it's just too much junk....well somethings will have to go.
