I dont care how high it is as long as it's walkable. 3/12 or 4/12 and I am happy. That being said, drip edge and first few rows working below your feet is shady. Much happier once I can work above my feet. Current house is 10/12 and that sucks. Once you start sliding, it's really hard to get stopped. On steeper stuff like 20/12, it's often safer as you cant be lazy and have to put up planks or a hooked ladder.
That box vapour barrier is for new build and is all but useless for anything retrofit unless you have clear access from above. Good solution if you have access above the ceiling. It is just too big to push in from above.
Installing from below (retrofit), I wrap the boxes in regular vapour barrier, seal any holes with tuck-tape, and use caulking to seal that best I can to the existing when I mount it.
Acceleration at 33 feet per second per second. The calculations I saw indicated 22 to 25 mph. A straight drop vs riding the arc of the ladder as it slid sideways might be less. The speed of the drop is far less important than the deceleration at the bottom.
Get lots of quotes and book them in very early or you’ll be waiting forever. Our quote for a side split house full evestrough replacement and just two downspouts (upper roof feeds into lower roof evestroughs) was about $2k, we previously had a quote for $4k. The difference in prices is nuts. In Kingston we got a recommendation from a friend and this guy is a small contractor and this is all he does. Did an excellent job super fast.

The good guys get booked up really fast. We got in touch with this guy two weeks ago and shook hands on the spot with the quote. He’s now booked up until later Summer at least.
Gentek (aluminum supplier in Scarboro) recommended a small contractor to me, he charged me $1.50/ft to install and $1.50/ft for the material.
I had 90' of trough, 36' of downspout, 150' of soffit, 100' of facia, and 100' of window capping. The total was about $1900, I stripped the old stuff before he got there, that would have cost another $500.
I would do a new roof, but with the chimney still in an unsure state...I don't want to install new shingles and then have to redo it once the chimney disappears.
For now it's in fairly good shape still so I'll do other things, but I would expect 20k for our house as a minimum.
Hell I'd do it myself if I wasn't terrified of the heights lol.

I assume the basket has to stay within the footprint of the legs? That's a lot of setup and relocate time. It's nice that you can pull it home instead of needed it delivered though. I've never used a towable one.
