If he could get his deck panel out, access wouldn't be so bad. Sunken hot tubs have some advantages but they definitely incur a maintenance penalty.Jeepers, I’m always amazed when somebody designs almost inaccessible service spots .
Nothing ever breaks down on a Tuesday in august when everyone is open .

It was here when we moved in not having to climb up is nice but having to get the panel out is a pita. Made worse by it being frozen in. This weekend I will crawl under there with a jack and pop it up not doing that in the dark and cold after work on a weeknight.Jeepers, I’m always amazed when somebody designs almost inaccessible service spots .

I love that every hot tub has the heater at almost the bottom of the tub and no way to shut off the plumbing. Brilliant design. If they had a smaller convection element that might make sense but I've never seen a tub with one. When we bought ours , guy told us the most common thing is heater element will get some corrosion from our crap water and trip the GFI . It’s one wire plug and threads in . He left us one ($85) and I installed it three yrs later ( in January at minus a bazillion) and ordered a spare .
My tub was in the deck but the service panel faced the yard . Wife hated the controls on the “wrong” side of the tub. I mentioned on the day you fix this thing we will consider your input LOL

There's a doo hickey /pull up & twist shut off valve on both sides of the heater, in the water line.I love that every hot tub has the heater at almost the bottom of the tub and no way to shut off the plumbing. Brilliant design.
Awesome. Who made your tub? Mine has no valves at all. It sprung a leak right after I refilled it last year. Of course it was an adhesive failure at the heater exit and required draining the tub again to repair.Mine has gate valves on each end of the plumbing so the pump and heater can come out without a bath, hardest part is getting 8 tiny philips screws out of the service panel , 2" off the ground

Ooof...not cool. I'm still working on locking up my basement stairs but have held off to see if I find any water with a thaw. Nothing today yet.Well **** now playing a game of where is the water coming from in the basement outside walls appear dry middle is sopping wet no pipes or drains in the floor near the wet area. Seem to be coming up through the slab? Not sure I like this game.
