Enclosed trailer hacks

Does the law require you to have a spare tire on the trailer for emergencies?
Would make sense for it to be like that.

I also have mine in the garage and just through it either in the trailer or in the back of the car when using the trailer.

My boat has a spare in the bow to the boat. Adds some weight to the front to keep the nose down.
I doubt it. Most cars dont even come with a spare any more.

Got my wheel chocks. Now, where to place the two of them fore/aft? Staggered? Forward of axle?

I would avoid lining up handlebars as that is the most likely place to run out of room. As for position, that would depend on weight balance in trailer. If I was planning on filling the nose with stuff that lives there, I would move the bikes back a bit. I doubt it matter for trials bikes but you may have something heavier in there on occasion.

More tongue weight is better than less tongue weight . Back loaded trailer is dangerous because it won’t start to speed wobble till your up to highway speed .
@GreyGhost formula is good guideline .
And put your chocks ahead of the axle lol.

Porpoising ) and sway are both commonly caused by the same thing when towing and that is not enough tongue weight for the trailer relative to the total amount of weight the trailer weighs.

My wheel chocks came yesterday.i thought they would come with carriage bolts. Instead they came with peculiar fasteners. See pic. I'll be measuring 3 or 4 times.

The directions list a part called an "expansion bolt". But it's just a sleeve.

Those will fan out when tightened not sure I would use them or go get some bolts.

That's what I'm thinking. The od of the bolts head is .395. The holes are .387.
They are meant to sit flush. There is no force on them whatsoever tho.

Weird, are those sleeves intended to crush/expand like drywall anchors?
The cone on the bolt will stretch the sleeve. They may completely mushroom. I don't love the concept. I would use conventional bolts of some form (probably carriage bolts).

Agree. I'm going to try them. What could go wrong? Gotta drill holes either way.

There's no force on what? Without the bolts, the first time you turned, this thing would fall out. Those bolts provide almost all of the lateral support and a bit of support when you hit the brakes.
