Why cut them up? They are hollow and i cut a full length slit in them. Takes 2 seconds to put them on or take off.You could try cutting them up into shorter pieces, like a bracelet.

Don’t think so. The mesh holes are too small but I’ll check later this week thanks. Can you hang a mount off the basket?
I think it was an attempt to make them fold easily when you close the door with the foam on the cable. Why cut them up? They are hollow and i cut a full length slit in them. Takes 2 seconds to put them on or take off.
If you mount it under the floor, also mount a cross wrench. Make sure the cross wrench is mounted using nuts/bolts that are either tool free or match the tool that is always in your car (probably 17, 19 or 21 mm).Don’t think so. The mesh holes are too small but I’ll check later this week thanks.
@GreyGhost yes, carrying it in the car is an option. Probably should do that as I always have the spare tire on the trailer, but typically forget the tools to actually replace a flat tire.

Dont these cables retract though to help lift door?I know, but I'm lazy. And forgetful. I figured you already slit them, but if you cut them into shorter segments (possibly even just in half), then you never have to touch them.

Yup, I've mounted mine under the deck. I ran the U-bolt up from the bottom so that the nuts are exposed on top of the deck, because if I get a flat I will have no desire to crawl around underneath the loaded trailer trying to undo the spare.I would mount it to the bottom of the floor (typical truck spare location). Completely out of the way but always with you and doesn't impede folding.
How do you deal with having to roll motorcycle up? The exposed studs could kill a tire?Yup, I've mounted mine under the deck. You could do a hybrid approach. Weld nuts onto a bar to keep them located. Run bolts on washers down from the top. Just a bolt head sticking up. Spin the bolt and the nuts are captive so the tire will drop on the ground. Retrieve the nut bar and remount at a more convenient time (as reloading this system with one person would suck). How do you deal with having to roll motorcycle up? The front wheel usually just rolls right between the two nuts, but I cut the studs so very little of them sticks up above the nuts. A few seconds on the belt sander removes any sharp edges. If you were really worried about it you could use acorn nuts. How do you deal with having to roll motorcycle up? The exposed studs could kill a tire?
Move than mount to the side rail ahead of the axle.Trying to figure out a solution to my trailer… I have the spare tire holder and third wheel mounted. Third wheel I can move to the front to install a metal basket/carrier on the A frame….but any recommendations for the spare tire location?

That’s be great but I don’t have a side rail.Move than mount to the side rail ahead of the axle.
You could mount it on a 2x4 and stick it in the stake pocket. Easy access when you need it, easy removal when you dont. That’s be great but I don’t have a side rail.
Use the side rail that holds the deck (the same one that's holding your stake brackets). That part of the frame rides over the tongue rail so it's plenty high. That’s be great but I don’t have a side rail.
That’s sold long ago now!Use the side rail that holds the deck (the same one that's holding your stake brackets). That part of the frame rides over the tongue rail so it's plenty high.
Might be time to break out that old Lincoln buzz box.
I know what walking into cables feels like.Yes.i have seen people hurt themselves walking into the cables. Mostly at night and usually with alcohol assistance. But it's an easy fix.
Does the law require you to have a spare tire on the trailer for emergencies?I don't have it mounted to the trailer. I throw it in the car/trailer if I am making a long trip (on a short trip, I can dump the trailer and come home to get the spare). To maintain foldability, if you want it to stay with the trailer, I would mount it to the bottom of the floor (typical truck spare location). Completely out of the way but always with you and doesn't impede folding.
