Damn boomers...I believe I've heard of something like vaccine snobbery....with AZ being 'the uncool' one to get. Not sure what's behind that.

Off topic tangent.

There’s three types of wealthy people on the planet.

1- The humble sorts who’d you never know were well to do, but use their money quietly to their own enjoyment within reason, never flaunt it, and often use a big portion of it to the betterment of society. They treat people well, including the ones who work for them. You have to be really close friends with them before you really grasp their worth and they’re still Uber humble about it. You enjoy having a beer with them.

2- The sorts who can’t wait to flaunt it and tell you all about how they’re better than you, matter more, deserve your respect, know everything, and still look down their nose at anyone not in their perceived societal level, including typically all the people who work for them, particularly in their households.

3- The people who pretend to be #2 but are living in a house of cards all financed by the banks. Looks impressive until it all collapses.

I have the pleasure of being friends with a #1.

Anyhow, sorry for the tangent. What were we talking about again?

it seems like you're the one trying to gain some sort of humble status by looking down on superveloce because of his toys and you or your #1 friend is better because you don't?

Is there some new feud I missed happening this weekend? Seems a few people are on edge...

I believe that’s part of it for sure. And there’s more coming.

Everyone should take whatever they’re offered right now, no question. But some people are on the Titanic casually walking from lifeboat to lifeboat looking for one with a more comfortable seat.

Agree, but it’s easy to say ‘take anything’. I will when it’s offered, but if I have a choice between the one that could possibly, unlikely, give me a blood clot and one that doesn’t.....well I think I’d take option #2 every time. If it means I wait months longer, then option #1 it is.

Most likely we will need more than 2 shots anyway, so plenty of time to try out different options out there.

I get it, but we know the odds of a clot are significantly lower than the odds of catching covid while waiting. And to use the proverbial Titanic thing again, waiting for a lifeboat with a more comfortable seat isn’t going to help much if the ship sinks before you find one.

But I get the concern. I just wish it was kept in perspective. I suspect a lot of people take lots of meds with similar risks every day but never think twice about it as it’s not something the media latched onto and made into a big deal. And anyone who does something like smoking (which I believe also statistically has a far higher risk of clots vs the vaccine) also need to step back for perspective.

Might have something to do with Sonny's take on fat people and health care.
It's the same as Randy Newman's take on short people. It's all just for a laugh.

I have to admit, I was guilty of waiting. Halton was offering shots to 60 and older so I was in the next age bracket. I even posted on another thread that it wouldn’t be long for me.
So when the announcement came that pharmacies would be vaccinating 55 and older, I initially dismissed it.
A week after the 60 - 64 age group opened up, a targeted group was next.
The week after that it would be another specific group.
At that moment, I did a lot of digging and discovered that 55-59 was still a part of Phase 3 through local health units. That translates to June/July and I wasn’t waiting that long.

The government has since updated their website so it’s a little clearer. They could do a much better job on the messaging.

Go get AstraZeneca. The total risk of the one-in-a-million-ish blood clotting situation is less than the risk of waiting two months (or even two days) for something else. I would be doing it if I didn't already have an appointment tomorrow, which is day one of that change anyhow.

And ... the more people we can get vaccinated sooner, the better off we all are.

Why would you give that kind of advice?any risk no matter what the percentage is still high
