Driveway Overnight Parking

My friend came by today and freaked out about how I park on the driveway. I always parked my bike outside so I wonder if this is not common. Until it's snowing, my bike stays outside whether rain or shine.

nope...never...always in my garage...both bikes on one side, my car on the other...hubby's truck in the driveway (his truck doesn't fit in the garage anyways)... :)

Always out side in driveway. Freaks the neighbour out. He is always worried they will be stolen. Problem with owning a nice decked out shiny Harley I guess.

My bike is always in the garage, same with the car. I currently have a single car garage and still manage to get them both in there. Orangeville has had an issue with theft from vehicles parked outside overnight, so why tempt fate?

Sun damage - Meh. Paint from my mountain bike succumbs to this, BUT I do agree elements will harm all paint products.

Theft - that's why you have insurance. Whether you use it or not.

Covers - sometimes helps, sometimes hinders due to buffering.

Why - the hell do you care what your friend thinks about what you do with your stuff?

My daily rider usually stays outside, by day at the office, overnight in my driveway. I will garage or cover her if I'm not using her for a few days.

She has a slight suntan, doesn't bother me -- it's a just a bike.

I have ins as well, but...
At home my bike sleeps in the garage
At work it's parked where I can see it on CCTV
When I travel and stay in hotels... I'm on the ground floor with the bike sitting outside my window/door...
'Not so much for fear of theft, but have you ever noticed no matter where you park there's always some idiot that just can't help parking too close or someone who will brush up against your machine while walking by it...
Drives me nuts.. Lol
Stopped for a coffee in Espanola a couple weeks ago... Frail senior citizen got out of a car and used my bike as a hand rail to steady themselves as they walked towards the sidewalk... I mean c'mon... I'm not gonna yell and a little old lady, but do you know I don't appreciate my mirror being knocked out of place.

Both my bikes and both my cars live in a driveway all year. I'm not rich enough for a garage in Toronto.

Much safer when it's parked at work.

You have free space in the garage and not use it. Just don't get piss or blame anything if it is stolen or damage then all is well do whatever you want.

Don't let anyone here know where the free bikes are parked, or we'll have a "how do I get a new key made when I don't have the old one", thread on here next week.

My garage spaces are occupied with my cars and bicycles. Since my cars and bicycles cost more than my motorcycle, I think it makes sense that it stays out there.

Also, I have insurance so I'm not worried about my motorcycle.

I keep our 2 in my garage...because I have a garage. If I didn't, yeah, outside. I'm not sure I'd use my driveway however if there was ANY other option (back yard preferably?) simply for theft reasons, but that's another topic.

Always amazed at the segment of riders who seem to think that letting a motorcycle get wet is somehow going to destroy it.

I've left my key in bike more than once (including in a Green P overnight) and lost it for a week on a ledge right beside the bike. Guess I'm lucky.

I live on a quiet street, and my driveway slopes into the garage -- I find it a PIA to push bikes backward uphill to turn them around in the morning, so I just park on the driveway. Maybe I should buy a turntable.

Wait. What? It doesn't ruin your bike?????? Are you sure about that?

Next thing you'll tell me is that a dropped bike is still ridable.

No we already knew that. Almost every used bike ever purchased was "dropped by the previous owner" according to the ads.

"by the previous owner, while stopped, into a cloud of marshmallows"
