Did you exercise today?

The thumb I use for the remote has a six pack. I like the idea of exercise but it to easy to put it off because of things in the shop and around the house that need fixing.

Diet is more important than exercise if weight control is the goal. You have to walk for an hour to burn off that donut. However exercise keeps the fluids flowing and if you don't take a bag of snacks with you you don't eat as you walk. TV is the opposite. Sitting and watching people have fun eating makes the viewer want to eat.

I would like to be able to comfortably run 50 yards in case it became necessary to escape a hazard. It's something I got from a swimming comment. To the effect that half the people that drowned would have been OK if they could swim 10 feet to a dock, boat or floating object.

I carried about 100lbs of stone from the front of the cottage to the rear…but I won’t count that.

I’m going to try and focus on the actual food intake instead of the exercise as that’s my main issue.

As for moving forward….trying to get back to my daily walk (although that is tough with kids by the time I can get out is approx 9pm), and back into weight lifting as of tomorrow or Wednesday.

Good luck everyone on your journey. My goal is 15lbs by end of year down to 165lbs or so. Ideally will lose 5-8lbs by Mexico in Feb.

Combine your activities to save time. Take 30 to 50 lbs of lead to carry in your hands on your walk.

Got one of these since too hot to ride eBike and flat feetmake walking a non-starter.

Works well, stays in place -time goes by quickly as can read, listen or watch. Physio guy recommended it.

Ozempic will sort your food issue right quick if you can get it.

Kids decided to put the antenna from my old radio near the Bowflex MaxTrainer…then started stepping so now it ripped the antenna off and it’s in a flywheel.

The Bowflex has some issue with it anyway but still functions…just resistance doesn’t change….

It’s 8:42, kids aren’t sleeping yet, books aren’t ready yet…no walk tonight

🤦🏻‍♂️

I just had a ice cream cone. I think I have gained 20 pounds this trip one more week to go.

I walk 1/2 km to the barn, split wood then walk 1/2 km back to the house.
Lifting stones, gathering branches and walking dogs.
Found out, property means exercise...

You do realize you are Polish. Eating is the national sport.

Seriously, going to continental portions is considered treason to the eastern European crowd.

I want to be able to do long distance touring into my 70’s, instead of complaining about aches and pains.

Even though I think exercise is very important, I believe that a healthy diet is slightly more important than exercise. Also, from what I’ve seen in those around me, being overweight and/or out of shape in your youth is one thing, but that will suck as you age.

For me, a job change in summer of 2022 meant I had way less time to work out than before, since I used to exercise for 90 minutes, 4-5x a week. I still do 90 minutes of hot yoga every Saturday and Sunday, but now will have the time to do more, since I’m comfortable in my work.

I also exercise more consistently with a goal to achieve, so I signed up to run a 34km event at the end of April. I also have cycle trainers and a simple gym at home to balance out the running with different cardio and strength training. So that will mean 6days of exercise a week until race day.

Lastly, genetics and luck play a big role in our future health, but eating well and exercising now can help with rehabbing injuries and illnesses down the road.

Agreed, you need rest days and off days, but there's no off days from eating, which is why its so important.

I feel like we're the same person lol. Im about your size now as well.
I had a bit of a healthscare, it was enough to scare me into a bit of a fitness addict.

In addition to cleaner and fewer calories,
I do core training probably 3 times a week, I throw in cardio there as well as some weights to round it off.

Cycling is freakin awesome, great cardio, great for your legs and knees, and great training for riding as well!
(Good enough for motogp riders, good enough for me)

My trainer mentioned , think about your body like an aquarium, it needs to be clean inside to keep everything else alive and happy , drink lots of water , flush it out and don’t put crap into your system . It sounds easy enough .

My family genetics are pretty good with family lasting 80 ish years in spite of weight gains in later years. My brother was the exception, being fit and active, balanced diet, modest drinker and maybe smoking a cigar a few times a year. Lung cancer got him at 66.

The most convenient exercise is jogging but it's hard on the knees. Any exercise can lead to repetitive strain injuries. Swimming is probably one of the better ones but hard to do at home, especially in winter.

Ideally exercising should be as automatic as brushing ones teeth and taking showers. You don't think about it you just do it. It can be hard when the general population goes against you. Work, eat, sleep. The body is too often treated an overworked taxi. The norm is to only fix it when it breaks but by then the parts are worn out.

All written in the finest hypocritical manner.

If you can't get into exercise get a physical job. It may help. If it doesn't you leave more to your heirs.

I have some pretty good achilles issues, so cycling for me is a good way to gently cross train my legs without adding much risk of injury or fatigue during my running. I'm only going to be cycling for max 40 minutes at a time though, because my goal is to finish the run in April without injury. After that, then exercise is all about just being fit and healthy for living a good life and being able to ride long days of twisty roads without much effort.

My mom is 82 and is functionally very strong. She lives alone up north, lifts wheelbarrows of rocks for days on end while she improves her beachfront and can easily walk 10km hikes. She eats extremely clean and is always moving. I hope to have the same genetic luck, but my first few decades if life has been riddled with poor dietary choices and is nowhere near as clean as her's. But it's not too late to begin or further that process for change, so here we are.

I still look 10 or so years younger than I really am and it isn’t good genetics or clean living. Regular exercise routine for over 30yrs is my guess. I try for 2-3 days in a row weights then an off day just doing cardio then repeat. 45min on the crosstrainer today watching WWII Netflix series.
Get it done first thing in the morning every day to make it easier.

Yes, pretty much every morning (Sundays off). A bunch of crunches and planking helps keep my core to a point where when (not if) my back blows out I'm back in shape in 2 days instead of a week. Then 3 kms on the stationary to keep my new hip in tune. (Sadly my new hip was not a "set it and forget it" model)
