Daily sports car?

On the original topic, driving through the snow this week on the 400 there was a tuned gtr. Not a bad dd. A little loud though.
how did you know it was tuned?

Alpha badges. I couldn't see the number so not sure how much it was turned up. Also, he got on it a few times and it moved quite well. I prefer sleepers to stickers, badges and a droning exhaust but to each their own.
i think stock is around 2.8s 0-60, so even prior to tuning it's quick!

My cousin took me out for a spin in his new Audi eTron GT.

I've been out of the car scene for a while, didn't even know this car existed.

Holy fookin fook! That thing is hella quick. I'm not a electric guy... but I could be...

I think it's the nicest performance EV. I liked it more than the Taycan.

My cousin said it was a toss-up between that and the eTron GT. He said they share the same platform.

I like the interior too, very snazzy. Also, very useable rear seats - but it is a four-door, I guess.

I'd like to get a sportscar again, just that I know I'd never drive it. I think the last 5 years of car ownership, I put on around 10,000 kms. Also it'd take up valuable garage space.

It'd be cool to rent something exotic when we travel, but sportscar weather is also motorcycle weather, so we end up renting motorcycles anyway.

Too much overlap! Not baller enough to do both. I honestly don't see car ownership anytime in the future for me.

I'm not a fan of the Audi lineup in general, we bought my wife the 22' A5 Sportback last year...it's alright to look at but not a fan of the driving experience/interior. But the eTron is neato!

Funny enough I think I'm finding my passion in reverse of most people. Was never a car guy but over the last year I've become one.

If I got into track or autocross, I'd probably have a sportscar. But something small, light and nimble. Like an old Miata/RF with a sway bar and roll-cage already installed.

Took my old car out to Mosport a couple of times. Fun, but nowhere near as visceral and engaging as a motorcycle.

Funny I found myself feeling the opposite while shredding the back roads of NY last year.

Maybe i'm missing that 'i'll live forever gene' (no pun intended) that most of my trackday/road racing friends have, but i've never found myself able to really push it on the street due to laws/traffic/morons, etc. But in the car I was full send with a huge smile on my face.

Funny, plush airbags and ample crumple zones vs 1.2mm cowhide and plastic sliders will do that...

Anyone else keeping up with what Honda is doing with the new Prelude?

Apparently it's gonna be a two-motor hybrid. I used to have one back in the day. Slightly newer than the one on the right though.

A lot of my friends are into the import racing scene, they do track-days at Shannonville. I could see myself joining them with an RX-7. Very curious about this new Prelude though.

Prelude looks great. Had a 1985 for a few years, in red of coarse. Lot of fun.

It will drive nice and sporty and all, but it absolutely will NOT be on the level of any of the company's type R offerings.

Maybe they will do a type R. Would be better then any 4 door offering.

I’d hope Nissan merger could inject a little excitement into Honda. Go back to making excellent basic sports cars, decent little trucks, and tough but basic and economicsl SUVs.

Type R isn’t exactly a high bar - I’d never buy a car that gets judged by the quality and count of its stickers.

There was a time when Datsun/Nissan had respect with Zs, 510s, little pickup trucks, Psthgrinders and even xtrails.

I hope the Honda - Nissan merger will inject better quality into Nissan. Agree about the Type R's.
