Edit. Wait do you mean the black car in the pic? It's a series 7 RX7. The engine is triple rotor from a Mazda Cosmo.

I like the RX8, and while I've only met 2-3 people with experience with them...they'll all been very positive experiences. Maybe they had rose coloured glasses on, or were lucky, or just actually had really good cars.

I do. And yes, it's doing well, i now have a 76-70mm crossover exhaust on it from Kline, with 100 cell cats and a tune which is pushing about 140tq more than stock at the clutch (that'd be approximately 700tq), horsepower unknown as it isn't calculated by the ECU in the data logs. My estimate (based on the ECU numbers) is that it makes about 690hp/660tq at the other side of the clutch pack which puts it somewhere in the 620 wheel horsepower range now.
I also have a fully programmable suspension tuner called the DSCSport suspension controller. I have mine set up to be a bit more gentle on the rough roads around the house, and it's still more comfortable in Sport chassis mode but reacts quickly to cornering forces and wheel input to firm up and prevent chassis roll + hysteresis. It's based on the GT3 Touring file that they provide with the unit.
I'll be getting a lithium battery in the spring. Pull another 45lbs out of the car and it makes the stereo sound better because it's 14.x volts
My car will be about 75lbs lighter than stock at that point and moves the center of gravity down lower, since the battery is just below hood level.

I love them, and have raced one with 450whp.
The downside is that if you want to drive it a lot you HAVE to modify it and frankly you will like the car a lot more with 400whp+ which you will need to do regardless of extra power, because you will want to convert it to single turbo. Why? You can then jam a big intercooler in there with the extra room and dramatically lower both under-hood heat and the intake air temperature. You can also get rid of (iirc) eight vacuum ends, which are a minor annoyance with the RX7 (I think there's like... 28 but memory is fickle). These modifications are necessary for reliability - and I'm not kidding about the necessary part - the upshot is that you get a lot more power out of a much safer and more reliable setup. The stock setup is so dense under-hood that everything cooks any time you turn the car off (think of those vacuum tubes) and the sequential turbos force hot air from one turbo into another hot turbo... which blows IATs through the roof and that has been the demise of many a 13b rotary engine.
