Daily sports car?

The one I drove (2018 convertible GT) I wasn't a fan of the auto trans. So many gears!! Dam thing changing and jerky all the time. I think it had like 10.
A toy like that would only be manual. That’s considered wife proof in our house.

Plus it would be a third car…the Volt can be her backup.

One of my exes was a bigger car nut than I was many years ago. She’s also a volt driver now after her car got totalled though. Guess that phase passed.
My present sports car will be my last. It's my second. Cars are becoming appliances that I have little interest in.

on my 3rd audi... 08 ,12, 22. Never a problem... reliable, great fuel mileage... gave up on domestic vehicles long ago
BMW cars I wont touch. Last domestic I owned was GMC step side back in the 80's. Swore id never own another. I'm that spiteful.lol

Co-worker just picked up a GR Corolla. Sweet machine. Too bad no one can get one.
I’m really loving the look and sound of the GR86.

Honestly I think I’d snap one up as an affordable toy instead of an MX5.

Not too powerful, a bit small, but sounds like a good and attainable toy car.

I still have a soft spot for the RF hardtop. Love the look of the flying buttresses above the rear fender, like the old C3 Stingrays.

My all time favorite Japanese sports car would be the 3rd gen RX-7. Twin-Turbo, of course.

Just need to resto-mod the outdated interior. Yeah, yeah, I know... blasphemy, blah blah blah...
I've always loved the looks of these but they're always priced out of my grasp. I also really like the RX8 looks and have stopped myself at the last second at least 5 times from buying one.

Good because the motor is a ticking time bomb.

Potentially a good candidate for ev repower if rebuilds cost too much. I would put a relatively small battery in as it is a toy car and you want the weight low. Something like 200 km range. Most of battery mounted low in original engine bay. It's a cool body shape. I havent looked into price, if rebuilds are affordable, I would stick with ice and pay to play.

That's a bit of a misconception, in stock trim they aren't any less reliable then piston engines. It's when people try to push 1000hp out of their 1.3L power plants that things go bang. Had a mate shoehorn a $140k 20b into one of those gen 3 rx7s about 20yrs ago. Was an insane ride.

Edit. The pic above is when we picked it up, found the engine pic. It's hard to see the scale but that turbo is a good 14"+ in diameter

It’s def doable. I don’t have the skill, money, or time but I’m sure some do.

If one can get a small RWD car with dead motor it would make a great project.

EV FRS/BRZ would be stupid fun.
