Daily sports car?

Desperation isn't the word I would use but why not minimize losses and make some money along the way?
Agreed. If there's a way to keep making money and supporting your company and family then I'm all for it. No point in just sitting around and watching the bank accounts go down without inflow.

Customer covered the cost but it is not as expensive as you think.
If I drop the car off to the shipper in Brampton, it was $400. If they pick it up from our dealership, it's $500.

Don't get me wrong, business has definitely slowed down and we're not selling anywhere near the volume we normally would but there's an opportunity there. Desperation isn't the word I would use but why not minimize losses and make some money along the way?

Thanks for the response; it's good to hear from the ground level that money is still exchanging hands.

I think the market is presenting a good opportunity to be a buyer if one is looking for a fun daily sports car. I.e. you will lose less money or break even when you sell in the <$50K market while enjoying all the benefits

Oh if only I could afford a viper....maybe an S2000 will show up in my price range lol. Things are insane price.

Minty unmolested s2000's seem to now be in the league of fd rx7's and mkIV supras.

Clean s2ks are now commanding top $$$

For years avi singhs s2000 was sitting in a yard beside Weston road with some damage. Not sure if it is still there. It was pretty distinctive with the wrap.

Yup. Apparently in the US they're cheap as hell...but here in Ontario they're commanding a massive premium. Good luck under 25k for an unmolested model.

I’ve been watching collector cars for years and think one of the best buys right now.
first or second gen vipers
Big NA V10 rear drive manual trans without all the nanny’s.
clean examples under 50,000km can be found $40,000
you won’t loose money

bad investment example
My dad bought a brand new Corvette for around $85,000 in 2007
had it 3.5 years drove 30,000km sold it for $32,000
next guy had the car four years drove 50,000km sold the car for $28,000
not sure where it is now but one could guess the car would have 100,000km and still be a nice car but would still easily sell for $26,000 or more.

Fair example because it did happen but keep in mind when your Dad sold that car CAN/US dollar was basically at par and we were buying them by the truck load in the U.S. killing the value here.

IMO, C6 Z06's are incredible value and can be had in the low 30's. WISH I had the garage space.

505 HP, V8, Manual. Perfect driver's car to putter around town.. will probably hold it's value or lose just a little bit over the next few years.

Example (EDIT - this particular car has a rebuilt title... stay away.. there are many others in the same price range):

Rebuilt is always a scary value proposition. If you want a track car, plan on piling on the miles or it is at a huge discount, fine but if you hope it will retain its value, dont count on it.

Shoot, I didn't see that on this particular car. NEVER buy a rebuilt title.

There are plenty of others between $30k-$40K on autotrader. Clean cars, reasonably low mileage based on 8K-12K a year in most cases.

You are correct about the C6 being an incredible car. The Z06 also had the looks and the power. But my pick in the Corvette line would actually be the Grand sport.
Still get the looks of the Z06 wide body
Still get the big brakes and great handling
Down about 100hp that you don’t really use unless you’re tracking the car
Down a few thousand in price
And you get the removable top or possibly even the optional glass roof panel.

I spent 4 years with daddy’s car a C6 Z51 pkg with glass roof. Awesome car that does it all well. I think I put more than half the km’s on the car.
not sure I would call it a daily though, and not a collector pie but a great drives toy nonetheless.

I've spent the last five weeks trying to replace the Odyssey. Finally got a steal price on a used Toyota Venza with under 100k on it.
I can't even go into the details, it's been hell trying to find a car.
I had no choice, I'm still working daily and the van was done.

I can imagine that it's difficult. If I recall you're working non-stop, long hours, and the dealerships are primarily closed or have very shortened hours.

This is something I saw today, Munro Motors, when I just took a quick peak...

We want to assure our customers that we are open and available, online only, for the protection of you our customer and our staff. During Covid-19 purchases will be completed online with our Touchless process. Once paperwork has been completed we will deliver the vehicle in an enclosed trailer to your door at no extra cost, within 100km of the dealership. To support social distancing, we will put the car in your driveway with all the paperwork and keys in the car then stand away from a distance while you inspect your new toy. If you have a trade-in we will take it back to the dealership in our trailer. All of our vehicles have been thoroughly sanitized; our cars are already certified and can be delivered with our touchless process. We have access to a local Service Ontario office which at this time has remained open. It is our goal to keep everyone safe while still having Fun!

I just don't see how one can buy/trade-in a car without seeing it, driving it, and having a total physical picture in front of you. I applaud them for keeping open and moving inventory, but I'm sure it's a very tough business to be in right now.

You get low balled on the trade-in anyway, and now the reason would be 'well we can't drive it to confirm what you say is true, so here's the price.'

And same goes for the buyer...'well I can't see/drive the car and I need to be sure and comfortable in my purchase'

It'll be interesting to see how things play out for sure.

In the end this dealer did allow a test drive but he knew that I was very serious and the test drive was the final step, I signed the papers immediately after.
I'm very happy with the toyota, drives like new.

You might save a few bucks short term but long term the Z06 is going to appreciate better than the grand sport imo.
The grand sport is 330lbs heavier.

Rumour has it, the C7 Z06's value with manual trans will be increasing similar to the last manual trans ferrari models which have been appreciating in value since there are no more manuals being built.
