Current Gas Prices - No one else concerned??

Just got back from England where gas was 1.35£/L, that's around $2.55/L Can. Not complaining yet and switching to bicycle on short trips in good weather.

The problem isn't environmental impact, its fuel consumption. We need to go back to the days of single digit v8 engines. Too much money is made on carbon tax for the government to fairly regulate the price gauging and with technology and the average mpg of economical cars going up, its just going to increase. Hybrid and Electric already retail for a high number (Volt) or maintenance is too costly (CR-Z, Telsa Roadster) we need an alternative to fuel, water and Nickel-hydride/lithium battery power.

I didn't mind pumpiing 135l into my dodge diesel when I was self-employed. But now that I'm commuting 45 minutes alone, the truck is a bit overkill. Yesterday it cost $187.00 to fill. Thank god I can ride the bike now...

Every time the price of gas goes up, the Tesla becomes more affordable. At $1.90 gas over 7 years a Tesla is more affordable than a $40k bmw.

I agree in principle, however with the rising prices of energy, a good deal of what you are saving at the gas pumps, you are paying out to your utilities company. How much would plugging in the Volt/Tesla into the wall overnight, every night, going to affect your electricity bills?

10 years from now, mmmmmmnaked will probably chirp in to tell that you should have saved your Tesla money, driven a 1990 corolla and bought Tesla's stock.

Plugging in overnight is 7.2 cents per kWh. That's barely $6 to 'fill up' a high end Model S which will easily do 300+ kilometres on the charge.

Yeah I'd say its cheaper than gas ;)

But definitely NOT as cheap as just keeping your 1990 Corolla on the road.

Haha. I was only ribbin ya earlier. All in the name of a good discussion.

Cheers.

But Im serious. There's nothing cheaper than keeping an old car on the road for as long as possible.

For all the ******** we're fed about 'green' technology and crazy-efficient cars, it takes a massive amount of energy to manufacture and distribute all those new cars around the world... and many folks keep trading in their "old" car every 4 years. It's kinda ridiculous.

D'oh! Now you tell us. I was starting to build a real hate on for the guy. ZX600 even started a thread about it in trash. Anywhoo, good discussion. Down with expensive gasoline.

I hear you friend. Stupidest thing I ever did was get rid of a perfectly fine low mileage gas miser Hyundai Accent for dirt cheap because I "needed" a truck. Dumb.
