credit check

So Rogers wants to do a credit check for Internet service, I want to give them neither my cc # not my DL #. Apparently a passport and birth certificate isn't enough.

They say it is for an internal credit check, and if that's the case why can't they do that from the info I am willing to provide. SIN is a no brainer, not giving that out.

I know my credit is fantastic, but have been burnt before with giving info out so I don't. I'm curious if they need a credit report why I can't provide that directly?

Any ideas? What would people do that don't have a DL or CC?

Done, if it's that easy. Waiting for a manager to call back, employee said she couldn't do anything from her end. One of my options I gave was that I paid in advance, and she said unfortunately that's not how system works (inputting info into a program).

Find a better provider.

Boonies, literally no one else and I'm still crossing my fingers it'll be fast enough for an android box.

I'm a luddite dragged kicking and screaming into present year, amazed I can figure this much out.

I wonder how hard it is to get people's SIN numbers. All it takes is a druggie in HR or payroll.

Don't banks ask for SIN numbers to open accounts? Druggies work there too or spouses of druggies.

Tin foil hat time for me.

give them an account number for your phone bill/ electricity provider/ water/ a tax reference/ car loan/ mortgage institution. Let them do the heavy lifting.

What the heck is an internal credit check? they need to check if you've stiffed them in the past? oy vey

If Rogers is there then TekSavvy and others might be as well. Rogers truck came to hook up and fix my Teksavvy.

You should be able to get Xplorenet up there .. and they are in the midst of changing over to LTE network which will get you 25 mbps same as Rip off rogers.

I'll call them again but as of mid summer Xplornet wasn't available.regardless of what mailbox flyers tell me

This. Teksavvy gets the rogers copper cable to your house at wholesale price and connects back into their network. Sells to you at the retail price, most likely less than Rogers. I have Teksavvy internet and voip telephone service. They've always been pleasant to deal with.

It cant be the only option. Where in the boonies are you? Wouldnt happen to be in the London area are you? I was looking on facebook and theres this pretty good place i saw.

Screw Rogers. Theyve burnt too may Canadians. Go with Teksavvy or really anyone else. Rogers has the worst customer service and wil screw you in any way they can. There are numerous pages dedicated to how awful Rogers is.
They are also the reason why internet and cellphone prices are so high. They keep a monopoly and dont let anyone else play in Canada!

Screw them!

You don't need to be far off the beaten path in Ontario to have little choice in Internet Providers.

My office is yards North of Hwy 7 in Woodbridge; only Bell has services, only aDSL is available 4/.25
Friend is on Hwy 48 at Major Mac; no wired service, only cell providers

On the other hand, downtown Toronto; Beanfield FTTH, 100/100 $45/month

I sold rogers through my business at one point............ Internal Credit check is absolute ********. They ask for CC / DL because that's what their system is asking them for on the flash activation (if it's still called that)

They used to be able to use passport.. It just required more effort. I would have to call a seperate number to manually process it through....

Teksavvy resells Rogers and Bell. When you have an issue Teksavvy opens a ticket with Bell/Rogers to have the issue resolved. Pray you never have a major issue.

As a wholesaler I had to call on a customers behalf to Teksavvy today (Simple DSL sync issue)..... I was on the phone for 55 minutes. At the end of the call what was accomplished? A ticket was opened with bell and a technician was going to be dispatched in 24-48 hours.

I would deal with Teksavvy any day before dealing with Bell/Rogers tech support. I've never had a 55 minute conversation with them, maybe it's because they are one of the few places on the planet that are willing to believe things that I tell them. Confirming a sync issue should have been dirt simple for them, I wonder why it took so long that time.

Not sure, but going back and fourth can be really frustrating. Especially when something doesn't go right with the bell ticket they opened. I guess my perspective may be slightly different.

Im with bell and I just need to keep calling yearly to renew their promotional. Whenever I have an problem, i'm only on the phone for less than 15 minutes and a tech will come same day if I call in the AM or tomorrow if it's noon or later. I guess it depends who you talk to or the location you live in?

Bell I have one option, cellular hub which doesn't give me d/l speed fast enough.

Teksavvy "unable to find product that matches your postal code"

Same with Xplorenet.

Rogers says the rocket stick will work. I need it installed to verify this. I could care less about customer service, I just want somewhat fast Internet.

I live in Durham region, all the little towns around me have high speed, but not my little twon
