COVID and the housing market

Interesting link in that article. I didn't know you could check license status for free. They even include CSV upload if you want. Not as good as an abstract but if I had people driving company vehicles, running the csv on a regular basis may not be a bad idea for due diligence. Then if you are ever challenged you have a record that you checked and they had a valid license.

The downside to using it for my commercial idea is you may get a green checkmark but be no good. If you don't submit a medical, your A dies but you may still get a green checkmark as they will have a valid G on that license number. It would have been nice if they included valid classes/restrictions (but for obvious reasons, do not include personal information like name/address/etc). Their sample output included valid, interlock required and a few other categories in a table. My license is clean but I ran it through as personal and business and I didn't get the table. Maybe need to run more than one at a time to see that (or it has changed).

Test ride prerequisite??

There are secondary effects to weather disasters.

Some areas in the US with hurricanes and floods etc are getting multiple whammies. You lose your house which ups demand and rental rates. Then crews come in to rebuild the area and they need housing, bumping things again.

Not housing but we were sidetracked in this high roller thread a year ago on watches.... Here is my new addition "sea.gull 1963":

It is a reproduction/reintroduction of a 1960s Chinese watch issued to fighter pilots. The movement is based on a Venus 175 (China bought the tooling back then), column wheel chronograph. Right now this is likely the cheapest mechanical chronograph on the market. There are a few options out there, I went with the vintage feel on top in the original 38mm width, gold tone on the dial to give it a patina look and the acrylic crystal. Inside and underside the not so original style display back and the upgraded regulator on the movement. There are a bunch of options out there...

Too add to my excitement, my Omega Speedmaster Professional has been repaired and is ready for pickup! That repair alone cost multiples of the sea.gull...

I have a speedmaster professional with the hesalite crystal , I like it but I wear my seamaster more often .
I really dig the seagull , I have a Kinyun chinese watch with a tourbillion auto movement , that style movemnet out of the swiss , 5K to start, out of china $179.
Seagull is stupidly reliable , in the $350? range

I blame @backmarkerducati on post #5928.

So housing…apparently it’s still falling. But did see that there’s something about new mortgage rules coming in that may cause a flurry of panic buying.

That means mortgages are going to be harder to get.

Yessss panic buying. Muahahahaha

Back on watches - I keep waiting for the price of a GMT Pepsi or Batman to be sub $15k again, and then I'd consider buying one. Some Rolex's are dropping fast from their peak, others not so much...

I did just buy about $330 worth of bezel, bezel inset, crystal, chapter ring, rotor, and case back for my Seiko SKX to turn it into a better looking Pepsi. I've never opened up a watch before, but the YouTube videos make it look pretty easy. Pretty excited for those parts to get here.

If you want to test it when you have it back together, I have the tester to ensure it is still water resistant (to 85m anyway, I don't have more pressure to test deeper than that).
