If any store could easily accommodate pickup at the door, it's the lcbo.
When we were in lockdown earlier, they had an on-line order pickup station inside the from foyer doors in Waterloo.
I'm sure they had them in the rest of Ontario too.

The greater threat over coming 2 weeks will be community spread from all the gatherings with family, extended family & friends throughout the holiday season. That's something no government can control aside from telling people not to do it.
At a recent birthday in Vaughn early in Dec.; 22 with people inside a house, 12 now positive with Covid. Same situation will happen many times over during the holiday season. This will drive the numbers a lot higher in January regardless of what Dougie does in terms of a hard commercial lockdown.

I'm not talking about it as an option. To avoid social outings in commercial spaces, lock em all. Either pre-order by phone or online or wait outside until your order is ready.

And one $880 ticket. Another colossal enforcement failure. Until everyone of these that gets busted is being hits with five figure fines, people wont give a crap.

No wonder the schools will probably extend their vacation.
Peel said they're seeing the kids on Jan 4th though

IMHO in a genuine lockdown the only things that should be open is grocery stores (and none of this nonsense of places opening a "Food Market" in an otherwise completely non essential business and skirting the rules accordingly), liquor stores (sounds odd, but it's unfortunately based in science) and pharmacies...and JUST the pharmacy and personal care sections, not the electronics...and perfume section, and the blah blah blah "I'll just go and browse because I'm bored" areas) and that's it.

Even in the last (genuine) lockdown back in the spring there was still too many questionable exceptions.....auto repair places, endless factories that make totally non essential products (I went to a few in the midst of things, you have no idea) etc etc etc. If the big box stores like WalMart that were allowed to stay open last time want to do it again, fine, but limit it to perhaps 20 or 30 people in the store...and make it clear they have 10 minutes to get in and out....and for the love of god, ESSENTIALS ONLY. GTFO of the electronics section, or the home decor area, blah blah blah. Grocieres. Medications. Buttwipe. GET OUT. Go home and sit on the couch and watch Netflix now.

Do it HARD and do it RIGHT. Lets get this **** over. As someone else said, rip the bandaid off fast and get it done with.

Many, many decades ago one Canadian Tire store tried to circumvent the Sunday closing rules by having a pick up counter only. You went to the counter and asked for the product you wanted and a worker went and got it off the shelf for you. Needless to say it wouldn't work today as the line-ups would be horrendous.

The other factor is that, back then, if the line up was too long you just waited until the next day. Somewhat realistically we will be in some form of restriction for four or five months at the absolute best, not the next day.

The wait is the problem. How many people are prepared to rip off the bandaid and trust that it will bring about a drastic enough result to allow a slightly normal life?

Is the reality that we have to up the contact rules.

When shopping, half the people ignore the floor arrows. Or do all of them. The math is the same. A waste of paint. FIX IT

Anything resembling a mask worn anywhere near where it's supposed to be, is accepted. FIX IT

People with no sense of spacing plug aisles and force group contact. FIX IT

Lay charges and fast track the trials with immediate payment. Appeals can come later. The present court system defers responsibility for far too long.

Do we have to limit shopping to one day a week per person based on an alphabetical system? DO SOMETHING

To get this under control we have to treat anything outside our homes as a war zone where a sniper will shoot you dead. In a war zone you don't hang around with friends, stroll around and window shop. Our homes will be safer but our socialites will suffer. Our renovation projects will suffer.

Or we can just die.

It may need measures unheard of since world war two. It will affect perceived rights including the right to endanger others. I don't see any leader out there with the guts to do it.

Civil rights is a double edged sword.

A lot of people, including me, feel that this will be under control by mid summer and we will have returned to a more normal existence.

For the cases that get heard after this winds down and if only a few charges have been laid there is a good chance the courts will take a lenient attitude towards the cases, forgive and forget, let's rebuild.

If there are thousands of cases the courts will be overwhelmed and scrap the lot for the same forgive and forget reasons.

IMO there are a lot that think the charges will get dropped so why worry when you can party.

If offenders were immediately dragged to a court and immediately fined and payment was demanded immediately it would have a different effect. Nothing alters behavior like a kick in the groin.

There are obvious downsides.

Power hungry enforcers

Defining necessary travel / outings. Do you need that light switch because you are redecorating and want a colour change or is it because the old one is broken and it is to stop you from falling down the stairs in the dark?

The divorce courts have recognized that the rich guy can't dump the coffee shop girl back on the street to her old life but rather she must be able to live as she has become accustomed. Will the same mindset prevail when the offenders argue that they can't go back to the "Suck it up" acceptance of their grandparents?

Should people be held liable for posting or sharing false or unsubstantiated information on social media? Post or share undocumented crap and get a fine. (Totally won't happen but I love it.)

These are very slippery slopes and temporary measures tend to get ensconced or repeated. IIRC income tax was introduced in WW I as a temporary measure. Looked at your pay slip recently?

Like I said a very sharp double edged sword.

How many of you are going to visit family this year for the holidays? I've talk to a few friends and basically everyone is just staying home and not visiting. It doesn't feel right this year. I will just visit my parents, but won't see my out of town brother, any cousins, aunts etc, and def not any friends.

At home with my wife. Trudeau and the premiers need to grow a pair of balls.
Lock down and increase fines to 4 digits.
No more flights from the UK etc.

Each of those 12 Test results should have been printed on a $750 ticket.

I think fines are mostly bylaw infractions. No court, just goes in your tax bill or to collections.

if I were a municipality is have every meter maid reassigned to fining Covidiots

So we have a regular friday night group that meets outdoors rain or shine around a camp fire , its usually about 12-16 of us. Social distancing in place mostly and we trust each other.
Friday one guy announces he's there , wife is at home with the sniffles (and since she's in the medical business waiting on a covid test result) and two others had face masks on since thier daughter that lives at home , altho she's a teacher, is awaiting a covid result.
Trust gone......

What do you think would happen if you rode your motorcycle around for a week without a helmet? Would law enforcement care? Judge treat you with leniency?

We do same. I have a fire ring in the back yard, it’s been used non stop since March. My rule is 4 people, never more, use the outdoor bathroom only. The inside of our house is closed to visitors.

We were invited to a similar event today. One couple is from TO. Nope.

We stopped having our regular Monday-night thing back in April. We had a few through the summer when infection rates were low, but not any more. One chap is caring for his elderly father who has other health problems. We all have elderly relatives.

Alimony is the biggest load of crap in North America. Just because a woman or guy meets and dates someone that has money they deserve to live a lavish lifestyle forever on their ex partners dime? The audacity of someone to think they deserve that is unbelievable.

Anyway rant over I agree with the rest of you post lol

Ummm, there are usually a few circumstances taken into account.
Has nothing to do with goldigging.
