Sorry that I don’t have faith that infected people will heed their responsibility to self isolate. We know that screening is picking up sick people in the current hotspots, we also know sick people in several hot spots are being arrested for breaking isolation covenants.
So if they don't self-isolate, then what are you going to do?
Or what if they don't self-isolate to the degree that satisfies you? What if they go outside to pick up the mail? What if they have family coming over to visit? Will you police them as well when they leave? How will you enforce this?
All it takes is one nutjob who's watched one too many episodes of Walking Dead and decides that he's doing a community service by taking out all the people on the infected list in his neighbourhood one-by-one with a shotgun.
People are pulling guns on each other in grocery stores. We are already there. A website listing names and addresses of COVID-19 infected people might as well be a death-list of targets.

In Italy and Spain, the police are still at work. In Italy, before you leave home, you are supposed to fill out a form explaining where you are going and for what purpose, and you had better be en route from your home address to the place that you said you were going when the police see you out and about. Anything or anyone moving, outside of their own property, is subject to being questioned. Businesses are simply closed, unless they are deemed essential (food, etc). It appears that there is general support for this - people know that it has to be done.
I doubt if we have the wherewithal to take it to that level here ... maybe I'm wrong. We shall soon find out. In the USA? Good luck with that.
Alberta just closed all schools and daycares (sort of, staff shows up, no students). Tells people to expect return in September.

Well of course they can! good lord people this is an aggressive pulmonary virus and you could fit a million of them on one chunk of animal dander, if it has lungs it is a host or a potential victim.

I think you give people less credit than I do! I don’t envision a walking dead scenario, I do know that in both China and Italy the had so many folks not heeding the isolation restrictions that they are arresting the them.
the question is... does the right to privacy eclipse the right to safety. I’m not particularly worried for me as I’m not likely to die if infected. But I care for someonewho is vulnerable, If some infected idiot decides to come to my workplace he puts my parents at risk. Should protecting his secret and poor choices make it ok for others to take on the risk of death?

Went to Walmart this morning. Wasn't too bad...a few people waiting outside in the morning, but the worst is all the baby medicine is gone. Couldn't find Tylenol for the kids, all I got was some Pepto Bismol. Nyquill out, DayQuill I got the last bottle, Tylenol for adults is around...but very few.
The staff told me this was their quietest day since this whole thing got ramped up last week.
Trucks load up today from the warehouses. Most deliveries are made by Wednesday. Believe me there's plenty to fill the shelves. This is Canada, we have too much of everything.
I didn't pick this up on the net. An associate (Born in Canada of Asian decent) of a friend's wife was assaulted in a parking lot because she was Asian and they started all this.
At this time it isn't a big issue. Let's keep it that way.
