Those 20,000 respiratory system deaths didn't all happen in a span of a couple of weeks, potentially testing the capacity of hospitals (exceeding that capacity in, for example, New York City and Detroit), and they weren't associated with a highly infectious disease that transmits before the infected person knows they have it.

ER is not critical care.

And many of those stats on deaths you posted are not from highly contagious diseases that have a proven track record of causing high death rates and completely and totally overwhelming medical systems when left unchecked resulting in cascading the death rate even more when emergencies that may not even be covid related can’t reach proper treatment because of such.

It’s almost like some people are only listening to hard right media who conveniently gloss over the realities of what’s happened in places like Italy and and NYC in the last 4-6 weeks. ?‍♂️

might as well delete mine seeing as you went to the bother of reproducing it

PP is right,

ER is often times the gateway into the hospital for many people, as they dont know the in's and outs of the system, so everyone just goes into ER. From there, they are in a systematic way organized and given the care they need, or send to where they need to go to get the care they need or any tests they may need etc

Let's also not forget that a significant portion of our population doing jacksquat equals less people hurting themselves needing medical care.

And they are staying away from the hospital as they don't want to catch Covid. ER at the local hospital had a single person waiting last week. People are treating the ER like an ER and only going if they think they are in imminent danger of death or long-term problems.

The open cheque book is making JT giddy. You know what cuts methane emissions a lot? $5 oil. Emissions problem solved.

"Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the federal government will support work in the oil and gas sector by spending $1.7 billion to help clean up “orphaned wells.”

He says restoring abandoned oil and gas wells is good for the environment, for landowners who have to contend with them, and for thousands of workers the effort will employ.

The federal government is also creating a $750-million fund to cut methane emissions."

Shouldn't the cleanup be the responsibility of the companies that opened them up?

Not in a boom and bust economy. They needed snowmobiles and four wheelers and bro dozers so only a tiny percentage gets put away to cover orphan wells (not nearly enough to actually deal with them). Big "responsible" company sells off well near the end of it's life to small unrelated company, unrelated company continues to milk it for a while and then goes bankrupt abandoning it. Everybody made more money in the process and no real penalties. Big company didn't abandon the well so they don't have political or social fallout. Small company nobody has ever heard of and it is likely a retirement investment for ma and pa, so nobody cares about them.

Any reasonable person would say that the environmental repair fund should get a huge percentage of the initial output until the war chest is built. Once a well has contributed ~80% of what a cleanup would cost, they keep the rest of the money. At the end of life, they either clean it up and get back the 80% plus interest (which is likely more than the cleanup would cost so win-win) or they abandon it and we have enough money to do it.

It's looking like the rest of the school year is going to be cancelled. I do not believe there has been an official announcement, but I just got word from a client within York Region they are cancelling prom's/Grads. I was holding onto a shred of hope it might be possible to have a grad etc, but another friend of minw just told me they may not want to let their kids go to school anyhow.

I understand that transactions requiring personal attention are being delayed due to COVID-19 but are internet / computer speeds being affected. I'm waiting for my bank to correct an issue that basically should happen by tapping the right keys. They say a couple of weeks.

Another update symptoms haven't gotten any better or worst. I have been on an anti-biotic for last few days, but still getting on and off fever. Eyes were burning all day yesterday for some reason.

Spoke to doctor, she wants me to go hospital. Staying away from there. Short on beds and people more critical need it. I'll call if there is an emergency. Should have my results for COVID-19 tomorrow or Sunday.

I still don't think it's COVID-19, but will play it safe.
