I’m not a religious person but, I don’t think it’s as simple as this.

As a father of both daughters and a son, I’m always concerned. Not of what they wear, how they look but how they approach sexual relationships with others. In the moment, most young folks are lead by hormones over rational thought. Birth control might not be top of mind for either party.

If abortion is simply thought of as a way of birth control and can occur at any time during the pregnancy, that is a concern. Not only to the woman.

So the question is, what is acceptable or not?

While I disagree with the Texas law, it may have some give it more thought to wards how and when they engage in sexual activity.

Again, I’m not a pro life advocate and believe Canada manages abortion pretty well.

And this isn’t to argue with you. It’s just a thought about the point you’ve made.

Its a bit of a stretch to suggest there’s a subset of people who actively opt for a surgical intervention on a regular basis as a lifestyle choice. This is what the conservative right paint the situation as but the reality is very different.

Luckily….we also have the abortion pill and right now there are organizations ramping up the ability to supply those anonymously to Texans. The fundamentalist right appear to have not foreseen the advent of technological and pharmaceutical progress.

Totally pro choice but I do think the number of weeks needs to be thought about a little more.... The 20ish weeks (not entirely the same everywhere) might be a tad long as some premature births have survived not many weeks past the threshold (not many but some), which makes me uncomfortable with the margins. Basically I just want to see a little more buffer. Sixteen to eighteen weeks is basically four months, lots of time to decide, more margin....

Buy him condoms? Get the girls on the needle it's good for 6 months at a time.

I personally don't buy the heat of the moment argument. But that is just me.

Don’t buy it? I don’t get it - if you’re warm blooded and T-adequate resistance is futile.

IDK, life is full of decisions and sometimes you have to put the brakes on early before reaching the actual precipice if you are not prepared....sort of like if you are driving later you best stop drinking now before you can't decide.

Also, a condom is ONLY 98% effective....

Sometimes it just doesn’t work out that way.

Don’t like abortions take a contraceptive or keep your legs closed. I’m not about telling a women what to do.

But someplace along the line planning has to come into play
Texas is a funny place. This laws has no provisions for rape or incest. Thus the rapist can sue the victim for the 10K bounty if she decides to abort. Land of the Free!

But hey you keep your hook in the water
ToSlow that is the greatest line ever. Is that a bluenoser saying or your own down home genius?

Probably heard it before, just can’t remember when or where

I wonder if the Republicans that are pro-life realize that these children will likely grow up to vote Democrat?
Good chance of that, Democrats (and Liberals) love the disenfranchised and impoverished - they are easy to fool. It only costs a promise to buy a vote and they allow them to recycle the same un-delivered promises every election.
