I partly blame the legion. There is an easy solution to the crap pin they sell. Instead of embracing a better design, they go after people that sell the tack pin upgrade. At least offer it as an option to people and you would see a lot more poppies around. I know I am like most here, I am constantly changing coats and/or having the poppy fall out.I noticed there were very few poppies in sight.
If the purpose is fundraising, the poppy is a symbolic token and don't be concerned if not everybody is wearing one. If the purpose is remembrance as well as fundraising, increase your costs by a few cents and sell a quality product. Hell, require a >$5 donation to get the good pin, or maybe offer a enamel lapel pin for $20. I know I would buy a bunch of ones that didn't disappear (and continue to toss money in in future years without needing to make more plastic garbage).
