Cheap GPS device @ Canadian Tire, may be great for warm weather rides.

My work (Skyview Electronics) and $150 :D

It is not a normal item that we stock. It was special order from our supplier. I am not sure if that was a "staff" price or not. I will inquire at work tommorow and find out.

^^^ Cool, keep us posted. The more options the merrier :)

Much obliged. I'll re-pack and put it in the proper folder.

After reading some post, it turns out that some people prefer the old 2008 Navteq maps (the original ones everyone has been using). But this new TeleAtlas set of maps includes 40megs of Canadian POI compared to 4.7megs we had before. So try the new maps but keep the old ones as back up just in case you don't like them.

OK, thanks for the hint. I'll name the files accordingly - Navteq and TeleAtlas.

oh, and one more thing... with the new maps, don't obey the indicated speed limit. It says that the 401 and 400 has a speed limit of 161 km/h. There's a few other little things... I'm going to stick to the older maps for now... I updated the FTP site with the USA and Canada stuff.

I want to be able to create custom route on my desktop (using Microsoft Mappoint or Streets and Tips, etc) and then transfer it to GPS.
Kind of similar to what you asked about - http://www.janboersma.nl/gett/index.php
converting streets and trips would be friggin awesome. Any progress? Off to mess with it myself. Had no luck with the trye gpx extension. I dont see it anywhere in the igo folders as that extension. Anyone confirm?

tried adding the cars but i'm getting "ffuierror: phrase error [</layer>expected]" pls help

are you using the Gurjon skin? if not then try that. it has built in CARS support

It's called iGO Amigo
...
It's a very cartoonie dumbed down version of iGO8. I like the 3D cars(sport bike) but I think I'll stick to the old iGO8.

Even the name sounds cartoonish :). Thanks for uploading all the same, I'll move it when I get the chance.

I don't know... try starting from scratch... It works fine for me (and every other one I setup)

bricked your GPS?

Haven't managed to do that yet, but not for the lack of trying :).

FTP: \Tools\Unbrick\gpd359_unbrick-v1.zip

I have amended the original readme.txt so it contains all the instructions from the wiki instead of just the link. Thank you Splash, good find!

my DIY steering stem mounted GPS mount using the GPS windshield mount

2" of 5/8" fuel injector hose, pushed into the steering stem hole
screw a bolt (don't know size, just grabbed loose bolts till one fit) into the injector hose to lock it in place
drill and tap a small hole into the top of the bolt
take the included windshield mount apart, unscrew the inner gear, find a longer bolt, and screw that gear into the tapped hole
add a few nylon and metal crush washers (for oil drain bolts) to give it lateral and longitudinal support. I would have used 3 nylons but I could only find 2 in my toolbox so 2 it was

Total cost $0 + junk around the house

its verrry sturdy, next steps will be to cover up the washers with electrical tape or something to make it look nicer, and add a 12V power for the GPS
