Caucasians need not apply

I have a paper to write for a sociology course I am taking based on the following article entitled: White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack

I am not quite sure how I am planning to respond. While I understand the premise, I struggle to understand why anyone should feel shame that they were born any particular flavour. At least I have a few days to come up with some scholarly paper on the subject

All the more reason to use all your resources to pay the barest minimum in taxes.

The more taxes you pay, the more you pay others to play.

There is a real trend of racial discrimination in the workplace. It's not racist baggage, it's a fact. When the government says "white men need not apply" in a job posting, it's a 50/50 mix of race/gender discrimination, for example. All that crap about making up for what we did to women/visible minorities in the past.. Guess what.. I've never owned a slave, treated any subordinates/coworkers based on their work performance and not gender/race, so I've got nothing to make up for here. Some of us would just like to eliminate discrimination in the workplace and are called "racist" because of that? Please explain to me the logic in that.

I have heard this comment numerous times.
The responses that I also heard was while that is true of you today, you have reaped the benefits and rewards by what was done in the past. "You" are further ahead because everyone else was kept back therefore there is now a catching up effect. Those people that were oppressed slowly used the laws by having the rules being enforced i.e. If I am paying taxes then x has to occur for everyone.

How hard is it for a woman to simple stand up and say something to the effect of, so you think things are fair, how many women CEO's do we see. How many High Ranking Women in Politics? How many women proper PM's have there been.
Why are women still not being paid equally.

A simple way of understanding this is if your relatives/religion/race forced others to build a bridge for free. During the building process the slaves died like flies. That bridge allowed "your people" access to the riches and opportunities on the other side. It could be as simple as better farm land. BUT nobody else was allowed to cross that bridge. In time "your people" got rich and amassed land and wealth. Let's fast forward 100 years. The slaves kids are now allowed to go to University and they are making their way along the system you laid out and you followed for success. Some cross that bridge that is still standing. They asked for laws for equality and as tax payers and voters they got them. Now you say what does that have to do with me. I did not build the bridge and had nothing to do with any of it. While that part is true, "you" still benefit every time you cross it today and everyone of "your type" benefited previously.

A lot of "us" come from places that had nothing to do with slavery. No one in my family ever reaped any of those benefits. Who's ignorant and racist now?
 
What was in the past should be left where it belongs.. In the past.. Current situation is that there are more than enough poor white people looking for work, disadvantaged by these racist/sexist policies. It's even worse for white male immigrants who speak English with an accent but can't take advantage of the same racist opportunities that a visible minority with the same language barrier would - so the immigrant would be put at the bottom of the heap, even below the white, born Canadian. Bottom line is that even if the white guy and the purple girl come from the same socioeconomic level, the purple girl will get better economic and educational opportunities while the white guy will be punished for his gender and the color of his skin. It can be said of most white males in Canada that they are not reaping any benefits from and are potentially disadvantaged by their genitalia and skin color. So what are they supposed to make up for in addition to paying for what their ancestors used to have (only true for non-immigrants)?

I'm a Serb. Gonna have to start chasing Turk reparations for those 500 years of rule and slavery they put my people through.

Come to think of it, the west bombed my country and people so I should probably get a handout or two for that as well.

I agree on the 500 years of suffering under the Ottoman empire for the whole Balkan peninsula.

As for NATO bombing your country, that was well deserved and it's Serbia who should be paying their neighbour countries for the wars Serbia caused, the massive genocide in 3 different regions and the unspeakable crimes the Serbs commited against humanity.

Some parts of the world only get news from one source, cant blame them for their ignorance.

On topic: Why is it, when white people get offended by "blatant" discrimination they are called racists ?
