Car talk

My commute is mainly through back-country farm area, it’s just the last 1% of my drive that goes through town - so I’d probably be fine except for the in town part…..
It’s only illegal if you get caught ;)

EDIT: But it's EXTREMELY illegal once you get caught...so...

I know Wasaga allows for ATVs to drive along the side of the road, but they do have a speed limit that is varied depending on the actual road speed limit.

my buddy just bought a small compact car because his F150 was costing him $150 every 3 days to travel to work and back....for $300/week...he'd rather just buy a cheapo commuter and keep the F150 to tow the toys up to the cottage.

This is also a guy that has everything paid off (house, cottage, boats, cars, etc.) so he's not wasteful with his money.

I don't remember if it was a specific dealership in the US, or all dealerships, but I distinctly remember a time (long ago) when you could buy a Ford F150 (or larger?) and get a free Fiesta to drive when you wanted to save on gas. Unless I'm thinking of another manufacturer...

They are out of the car business and only kept the mustang for its presence in NASCAR / Cascar and some SCCA events .

My F150 is leaving, I’ll buy a hybrid / electric pickup in about 2-3 yrs when they are well sorted .
Bronco Sport will fill the space in the driveway . Ordered the “ high performance turbo 4” lol .
Yea I know , I’m an idiot .

No you’re right. It was ‘buy an F150 and get a Fiesta’.

More recently Nissan had a promotion ‘buy a Titan and get a Versa or Micra.’ Can’t remember the details but the Titan isn’t selling so they tried everything to get it to move.

All the manufacturers agree to a minimum AVERAGE mileage for all the cars they sell every year, and if they don't make the average they pay fines BIG FINES.
There was a time when all ford could sell was F150s, Lincoln Continentals and 5 litre Mustangs.
So to bring the average up, they gave away those Fiestas.
They sold those Fiestas too. If they sold for MSRP, Ford lost about $2500. They were a GREAT deal
Mid - late 80s I think

It was cheaper to give those little Fiestas away than pay the fine.

I can actually beat that. Last filled up my SUV mid-November and it’s still at 7/8th of a tank. Vehicle 2 (van, kid hauler) has been filled up once since then as well.
Sleds have eaten hundreds of $ of fuel since then though. Wife needed nacho supplies last week so I took the sled from the yard, across the lake, to the grocery store to get supplies :)
I only run premium in the sled (no ethanol=no water I hope)
The Squeeze has noticed those payments....

Premium….
Wife’s new car that we will be picking up at the end of March runs premium.
New bike that I’ll be picking up mid-March runs premium.
Track bike only runs premium.
I don’t drive the Mustang much so it only gets premium.
It’s going to be an expensive summer!
But hey, at least the truck runs regular gas…. lol

And that is how you ended up with this.
