Canadian Motor Speedway

Road course looks awesome :)

Bahahaha.Looks like something a 10 yr old would build for his slot cars.

They need to build on at Ontario Place grounds, instead of that silly casino. Wouldn't that be fun, eh?!

:D:D:D

I'm sure that road course layout is just an artist's conception and has not gone through serious design reviews (now is the time for those design reviews). It has been discussed before on this site, but basically, bridges and tunnels are very troublesome for motorcycle roadracing. Somewhere, that bridge or tunnel has to have an end, and that means there is a big, unavoidable obstruction to hit.

This would be an AWESOME track for Go karting...a 125 cc shifter kart would do nicely, thankyou...

..I like the word "mosport" better than "canadian motor speedway"

And just to be clear (because it might not be, to the relatively new member who made that post) ...

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, formerly Mosport, is an existing facility north of Bowmanville, and is NOT the subject of this thread. That facility has been around since the 1960's in some form or another. There are those of us for which this place will always be called Mosport, myself included.

Canadian Motor Speedway is a PROPOSED facility near Fort Erie which does not exist yet, and THAT is the subject of this thread.

Two completely different facilities.

It was too late before I realized this.I had already clicked the submit button.... In any case

I STILL WANT CANADIAN TIRE MOTORSPORT PARK TO BE KNOWN AS MOSPORT:mad:!! ( thread topic changer!)

The road course design has been different in every rendering they have put out. So don't judge it's layout until it is built.

Their website describes the spec as "2.6 mile (4.2 km) FIA / FIM grade integrated road course". So if I get to ride a track that can host :tongue4: MotoGP, WSB, and F1 and is less than 10K from home I'll learn to like it. I would guess the track day configurations would not include the oval.

It hasn't been a problem at Motegi

Better hope they can find new money or none of it will happen approval or not. The original money man from Dubai bailed out a couple years ago. Hopefully now that the final hurdle crossed it will come.

the tunnels at Motegi are huge in width. They have sufficient clearance on both sides to not be a problem. In fact they are so big they have to using lighting
during the day. So tunnels will work but the problem you will get is frost heaves as well as settling. If you have ever rode Daytona before they paved it ,turn 4 off the banking over the tunnel would make this point very clear.
My big concern would be that exit corner ,corner 1 off the front straight. Much like Louden New Hampshire in many ways,,, and locals that live 15 minutes from the track will not ride it. They will also have to have big banking or use the apron,,,, those that rode Pocono when we used the banking can understand this. 6 air lifts and 3 deaths in one day was enough and Pocono changed the design of the road course to eliminate the banking..
Incorporating road courses into ovals can be done very well or it can be a nightmare. Personally I prefer stand alone road courses and they could build a nice one with out the oval involved. But like Ken says,,,they need money,,,so don't hold your breath for 2015,,,even if they get it,,maybe 2017.
