"Canada sucks" crusaders move to Russia, find out Canada wasn't so bad after all.

It’s really not. It’s actually quite dumb of a statement.

The ‘half’ is from people that don’t understand the costs of having services, and those same people complaining about lack of services if the money runs out.

The roads, water, sewers, lights, healthcare, etc etc etc all have a cost. It ain’t free. But people on average are idiots. We just like to all think we’re smarter than the average.

Yes we get taxed a lot, more than most, and yes govt efficiencies are non existent.

Fact is that someone needs to pay for it all. And if not the taxes from our paycheques then where is this money magically going to come from?

My daughter believes in fairies and unicorns. I don’t.
My statement was in reference to me and to continue the satire of things..

I googled "rank world economies" and the first two said Canada was #10
People, Canadians, I meet seem to be happy. We score well on the annual "happiness" polls.
Our GDP/Capita is around the same as most western nations.
Americans on average, spend 3-4x what we do on health care.
According to this list, US spends 4x what Canada spends on defense per capita (and they have 10x the population)
According to 2 legit sources, we're either #17 or # 30 depending on how you measure economies.

I still haven't been able to find the wife's first video... but it seems to me this story is less about some idiots that moved to Russia at the worst possible time in history, but more about the misogynist anus that is the husband... that was born and raised in Ontario (which still distracts from the intended point of the article posted)
We need a youtube vid by the oldest kid... seeing how the husband won't let the wife to be heard.

I'm going with redneck Amish sprinkled with a dash of QAnon.

After further review I'm changing my description to redneck LDS, with a full dose of QAnon.

And to make it worse, WHEN it happens they will be screaming their heads off "why isn't Canada helping us...."
This is what burns me. This, other war zone countries, or 'vacationers' looking for discounts during hurricane season.

These people make conscious decisions NOT to live in Canada and live in active war / conflict zones and then scream bloody murder when Canada doesn't send help to get them out when **** hits the fan.

My only comments are: FU. You CHOSE to go / live / vacation there...this is on you.

They save a few grand on a vacation, and then we burn millions getting them home. F them.

Glad someone gets it.

We have family in the USA who pay thousands of dollars a month to their insurance company just so that they can affford to take their family to the doctor and actually go to a hospital if they get sick.

Canadians just have no clue as, as I seem to say so often, they never look outside their own little bubbles, nor even seem to want to. Meanwhile they use all the things we've become accustomed to as a society, including our healthcare and social safety nets, yet get upset when they're asked to actually pay for it.
It isn't easy to compare spending between the countries because the systems are so different. My US colleagues get an OHIP-like managed healthcare paid for by the company, they pitch in 15%. The company spends approx $425/mo per person covered, the employee kicks in about $65. Unlike OHIP, which includes prescription, optical, and dental.

In Canada, the province spends $500/mo on OHIP per person. The money comes from taxes, so you can assume you cover that cost out of the taxes you pay. Then you pay for dental, optical, and prescriptions or buy insurance to cover that (if it's not paid by your employer).

In Canada, we pay about 25% more than Americans in Federal income tax. State tax varies, so when compared to a high tax state like NY, we pay about 45% more provincial tax. We pay a lot of income tax.

As I stated, it's hard to compare as both systems have pros and cons, but I'm not sure the financial dent is less than someone in NY, it's just a different entity reaching into your pocket for the funds.

Ask the very large percentage of the US populace who don't work for a company that provides them these sorts of benefits, and they can't even remotely afford them how they feel about our system in comparison. And that portion of the populace is staggeringly large.

Don't get me wrong, a segment of their population who are uninsured and can't afford to get sick, but lean to one particular political side, will still kick and scream about how our system is "socialism" and it sucks, blah blah, but secretly, virtually every single one of them would take it if they were offered it quietly without anyone knowing. Kinda like how a lot of them ranted against Obamacare but now quietly slinked in the back door and got on them but don't advertise it. Heck, some don't even realize the ACA is Obamacare and will fight you if you try to tell them it is. Anyhow, that's another story.

That's the difference between our countries. You don't NEED to work for a big company with paid healthcare benefits to be able afford to get sick or go to the hospital.

I don't understand from the article why these people left, but I do understand that the article was intentionally written that way.

Sounds was admittedly ******, it was the first link I pulled up. Doesn't change the underlying story however, and the drama since.

This isn't the last we'll hear of these people.
